Well, this forum just seems lonely without at least one thread. So I'll kick things off I guess.
Any other players of the Assassin's Creed games?
I'm relatively new to it. Heck... new to console gaming in general. Didn't grow up with a gaming console of our own - only played whatever cousins/friends had (so Sega Genesis and Nintendo64 back in the day). We only got our first gaming console a few years ago when I got a Wii, sister then got a WiiU (for which I got AC IV: Black Flag - which I've played through once - though didn't get 100% sync). For Christmas, my sister went ahead and got me (well, us) an XBoxOne.
Finished the first AC game (yay for backwards compatibility!), I got the Ezio Collection (that has the remastered ACII, Brotherhood and Revelations) - I've finished up ACII and just finished up Brotherhood this weekend (again, no 100% sync for me). Just barely started on Revelations. I'm still debating whether or not to get ACIII (if only to finish up the Desmond storyline (which I do know how that ends...) - I've heard mixed feelings about Conner's storyline) as well as Unity. I have Syndicate (though that will wait until I finish the preceding game(s))

Ha, I was actually thinking about making a post here yesterday, and it would have been about AC, too! I had played the games up to Revelations a couple of years ago, but never finished it. Last year I started a whole replay (always 100%!) of all the games and recently finished AC III. I played that one twice! (Trouble with the save file while installing the dlc, but no regrets!) Let me tell you, AC III is incredible! Connor is my favourite character by now, but I guess that one's entirely subjective. I also prefer Altair to Ezio, and Connor is probably more similar to him, although with the occasional temper.
The setting of colonial America is simply gorgeous, the fight system is much improved and the story felt very personal as a whole. Negative points would be the crafting system, which is very elaborate, but mostly useless, the occasional glitch and the way the game throws you in at first without a proper introduction. But, while the first three chapters - which you will not play as Connor! - might have been shortened a bit, they also provide an incredible pay-off later on, which really elevates the game on so many levels!
So my verdict: Give it a go, I doubt you'll be disappointed.

Can't really comment here, since I'm on pc, so I don't know how the controls etc are on either consol.
Also, I skipped earlier over the part where you said you already played Black Flag. Not entirely sure, since I haven't played it myself yet, but I guess that might have already spoiled one of the big twists of III. Ah, well, still a great game.

Yeah, AC IV: Black Flag does...essentially... spoil the ending of ACIII (you find out what happened to Desmond via computer hacking in what present day stuff there is). I like Black Flag okay... the naval stuff I'm not a *huge* fan of, but I can tolerate it (except when I had to protect another ship from being destroyed, that memory/mission was annoying). I think I'll probably wait until they make AC III backwards compatible. Hopefully it'll be soon... they just added AC:Rogue (which I have no interest in playing... the idea of playing an Assassin who turns Templar agent is just wrong to me... it's like Captain America being Hydra) and that had 20,000 less votes on their official uservoice/voting page for backwards compat. than ACIII currently has.

Update on my AC progress. Finished up Revelations (again, not 100% sync - I'm terrible when it comes to that, it's those pesky secondary tasks on the memories (like, "Complete in 6 minutes!" or "Don't be detected!") that tend to do me in on a lot of things). Popped in Syndicate just to see, but mainly did just the opening (with what was, effectively, the tutorials for Jacob and Evie - the controls are going to take some getting used to as they're slightly different from AC1 and the Ezio trilogy).
Decided to go ahead and order ACIII for the WiiU (if they add it to the XBox Backwards Compatibility eventually, then I might get a copy for the XBox as well), should get here later this week (and then also went ahead and ordered AC:Rogue and Unity for the XBox - they were cheap so....)

My brain plays such cruel tricks on me. Even though I KNOW I am reading the Assassin's Creed thread, every time I see one of you mention it by A.C., I instantly think,
"Ooh, they made an Agent Carter game???!!!"

So, nillindeiel and ayanami I just fired up my PS3 today, and realized that I downloaded a free demo of AC:Liberation a few months ago. I remember now trying to play it then, and I just tried again today..it came without instructions or tutorials though, other than minimal in-line hints as you play (like 'Press R1 to begin climbing', etc.) I am totally lost on what to do and how to do it! Very frustrating. Do you know of any minimally spoilerly videos or a good website that describes the actual game play? It looks really good, visually, but I can't even make it to the first person I am supposed to hook up with.. an advisor, or administrator, or something...can't remember the exact title without restarting it. Help!

Help! Yeah, I haven't played the game either (and also don't have a PS3). Looking around online I did find this site that seems to have a good list of the game controls for PS3: guides.gamepressure.com/assassinscreedliberationhd/guide.asp?ID=23674As well as sections for combat tips and what not. Looks like they also have a walkthrough (might help for the initial beginning memories as you familiarize yourself with how to play).

I have tried several places to find a video clip of the section that is provided on the demo that Sony provided, but they don't tell you which section of the game it is from, and I got tired of hunting for it. The game controls were not the issue, they do provide a control layout with options, in the game. Its the game PLAY that was confusing me, which I would presume would be similar to previous installments, no matter the platform. To be specific, the scenario you are placed in requires you to get to a contact, via stealth mode. They are located in a 'danger zone', and you must get through undetected. I have about decided that it is impossible, and you must just have to take out all the people who detect you. Does that sound like something the game does from time to time? Looks like that website would have the answers I need. I am going to take one last try at it, and learn the battle skills needed, before I go to cheating. I'm stubborn like that! Or else I'm going to go shopping at GameStop for some used copies of the first few installments, start from the beginning, as ayanami suggested elsewhere, and just to do it properly. I was in bad need for a new game, as I've been through most of the highly rated PS3 content. This looks really good.

Ahh, sorry somehow I missed your mention of it being a demo... and yeah, demos can be notorious for dropping you in the middle of the game (and not necessarily at the beginning). In regards to your scenario (getting through the red zone to your target undetected): Yes, that can be a common occurrence in the series. IMO the trick is to stealth assassinate any patrolling guards/enemies that you can (killing them before they notice you). So assassinate them from around a corner, or from a hiding spot (bench, haystack, dense vegetation (note: dense vegetation only started showing up in AC III, I believe, I don't think the first Game nor the Ezio trilogy have dense vegetation as a hiding spot), etc...). Sometimes if they have turned towards you (and their awareness meter is going yellow - but hasn't hit red yet) you can rush them and kill them before they become fully 'aware' - but it is tricky/timing is an issue. If a guard can't be taken out stealthily, then try to find a way around them - keep to the hiding spots until they pass by (or go over rooftops if needed). Others might have different tips for no-detection red zones/ It is frustrating, and memory sequences where it's mandatory that you avoid being detected *at all* are among my least favorite ones of the game . I usually find myself desynchronizing at least half a dozen times before I'm finally able to figure out the right path to take to get through it (example - for others that have played the series - end of AC II with Ezio at the Vatican was a pain in the BUTT! It felt like that one took me forever to figure out and it was really only two rooms that I mainly had to be concerned about).

And I totally agree about 'detection' sequences. I have 'James Bond-Legends', a mediocre game, but it has its moments. It too has similar sections, and they are a royal [gonna test Jemma Simmons 's filters here ] PAIN IN THE ASS
