Hi guys! I finally made it over.
Who is watching Legion on Wednesday? The reviews are off the hook - 100% Rotten Tomatoes so far and the critics have repeatedly compared it to Kubrick and Wes Anderson. I was at NYCC this year, when they showed the first 20 minutes (I couldn't get into the panel) and heard people went nuts for it.
It's the first Marvel/Fox coproduction, so if it goes well, maybe there will eventually be crossover over with X-Men/FF characters and Avengers?
Do you guys want to chat about it when it airs? I'm so psyched!

I read that the characters are all going to look different in different episodes. Aubrey Plaza said she did a head cast and wore prosthetics in various episodes. The entire thing sounds so trippy, but I guess they want to give us an idea of what it's like inside of David's head, from his perspective?
I just want to know if they're going to keep the original backstory, with Legion being the stepson of the Israeli ambassador, being held hostage by Islamic extremist terrorists, with the head one's consciousness being sucked into his head as one of his main alters (and main protector). I'm guessing some part of it stays, because - in the previews - it looks like the docs are asking him questions about the event (I think he killed a sugar honey ice and teaload of people with his mind when he panicked?). The terrorism thing is kind of a touchy issue nowadays, as is Israel.
Either way, it'll be weird to see Lord Matthew Crawley with spikey hair and an American accent.

I know your thing is writing, so don't know how important the score is to you.... but just in case, I thought you may be interested in this: themarvelreport.com/2017/02/legion-composer-scoring-mind-altering-mutant-adventure/

Actually, I was a film theory major in undergrad (so many job opportunities!) and worked in crappy tv for ten years. so I love all aspects of the process. I actually noticed the score in the commercials but didn't realize it was original. That's very cool!
I don't know how involved Fox/Bryan Singer was with this production, but organizing the right score is the one thing he nails every single time in every X-Men film. The score for XMFC (not sure if he or Matthew Vaughn hired the composer) is actually one of my favorites of all time. If you've ever dissected it at all, they have four separate themes for Magneto/Professor X/Beast/Mystique and intertwine them as needed. And, of course, that 1960's flavor 'Magneto is pissed off' score could be a Bond theme song. They really did a great job of honoring the era.
Not sure what time period Legion takes place in (early to mid-1970's?) or if they are planning on making it sort of timeless/otherworldly, but I'm really excited to see what they do with the score.

The main chick, Syd Barrett (Rachel Keller), is giving me major Gwyneth Paltrow in Royal Tennenbaums vibes.
