He's the son of Professor X and Gabrielle Haller. I'm not sure why they said he had schizophrenia though, because he clearly has DID (multiple personality disorder). Supposedly, the character can actually absorb people - and I'm guessing they chose not to use his backstory** - so no idea if they're going to use his real identity as Professor X's son or not. 

One poster on imdb suggested that Melanie Bird might be Mystique in disguise and the group of mutants she's with are the Evil Brotherhood. I actually love this idea, because Mystique did sort of rescue and collect wayward mutants and even ran a school for a while. That group definitely seemed like they could be some kind of mutant terrorist cell.


**mom and stepdad are Israeli ambassadors to France and Islamic terrorists hold embassy hostage and kill his stepdad, which makes David have a meltdown and he wipes out everybody in the building with his mind. In the process, he absorbs the consciousness of the main terrorist, and once inside David's head, the guy realizes what he did was wrong and becomes David's main 'alter' personality, protecting him from the couple of evil ones he has. This makes me wonder if any of those rescuers were real, since one of David's main alters in the comics is a pyro, so he could've freed himself in that pool?

That second episode... Did his parents really read him that book as a child? If so, that's really creepy!
