Got another true story for you. Back in the old days, 1975, when I first moved to Austin, we went to a now-defunct, but to this day still a literally world famous beer hall, named Armadillo World Headquarters. (Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart recorded the album 'Bongo Fury' there, as well as many other more local talents- (Jerry Jeff Walker, Willie Nelson, etc.) Anyway, we were sitting way in the back, happily tossing back pitchers of beer, and a band that no one had heard of started playing. Their name? The Runaways. About a half hour into the show, a friend said, 'I think that the drummer is a girl!'. We eventually figured out that they were ALL girls! Oh the memories! Of course, Joan Jett was the singer and front-man//er, woman. Thanks for reminding me of that!

had to post this, after telling that story Yeah, I planned on doing Lita in the near future the following it up with The Runaways to tie it all together. Here's Lita: It's interesting the different paths that Joan and Lita took after The Runaways...... Both good, though.

One of the best (and loudest) live bands I saw back in the day.

Well, Rod Stewart came up in a FB conversation, and certainly deserves a nod in this thread. A bit rough around the edges these days maybe (in this video, anyway) but the man sure had some great songs. This is my favorite. I was tempted to post the studio version, but hey...reality TV

lets all not forget about this band. They made their own way in the world. I'm trying to keep this thread diverse, and including all influences. And this was definitely in the mix What a clean recording of both audio and video this is I am glad I stumbled across it. Oh yeah! I love seeing the band prepping onstage, gosh I miss those concert type days, before the smoothie-production type guys took over the industry. It was still just real music back then.

As a piano player, my ears are always quick to pick up the piano part in any song. The piano in this song rocks. The guitar playing is great too, but I love that piano part. My first concert. Doobies and War, 1974 (I think..... it was a long time ago) Really? My first concert was the Doobie Brother's Captain and Me concert back in the mid-70's... Don't think they had a back-up band at my venue, though. I do remember they turned on the house lights, everyone started to leave, then they turned the lights back off and played another encore. I had third row seats for that encore...

I was 14(ish) and brother's friend bailed on him so he took me because he knew I liked the Doobies. We were on the field about 30 or 40 yds from the stage. It was a pretty cool first concert. Had a feeling my memory might be playing tricks on me so I did some research, and sure enough.......... it was Golden Earring that was back-up, not War. I remember seeing Golden Earring, but memory didn't tie that show to Doobies for some reason...... Now I gotta figure out where/when I saw War.

Let's just say, a lot of my rock music knowledge comes from Supernatural! And just this once, the scene SPN used the song in. Posted, because... reasons.
