Here's a contender, for sure. I love this song.

I. Love. This. Song. To. Pieces. Cannot listen to it without crying. Reminds me of the girl that I never even kissed, that contributed to the break up of my marriage. And don't judge me. That was far from the only factor (and about the only one on my side of the fence...)

With much love and R.E.S.P.E.C.T: RIP Aretha. You'll always be the Queen of Soul and a respected natural woman.

Female vocalists, and Petula Clark isn't mentioned? She was Karen Carpenter before there was a Karen Carpenter...
Am I showing my age?

And not strictly pop, but one of the greatest female vocalists of all time was is Julie Andrews. Between Sound of Music and Mary Poppins, she pretty much owned the charts in the 60's. (Sound of Music was in the Billboard top 10 for 2 years, the top 200 for 5 years, and Mary Poppins was the best selling album of 1965. That's saying something considering The Beatles were at their height...)

This might just be my favourite version of one of my favourite songs: Would probably also fit in the season 6 thread, what with the "love in space" theme. Or for season 7, because of the old-timey feeling.

If it were opposite day, I would post this in the AoS S7 thread and dedicate it to FitzSimmons. But alas...
Cover of the 1988 INXS song.

I've recently put a couple of Evanescence videos in the season 7 and season 4 songs, and realized I don't think I've seen Amy Lee in this thread where she definitely belongs.

Sinéad O'Connor died today. Here are a few songs in her honor.
She may be most famous for her cover of this song by Prince ("Nothing Compares 2U"):
On the other hand, she might be most famous for what she did at the end of this performance of Bob Marley's "War":
This did not win her any friends with people who were more offended by disrespect toward the Catholic Church and Pope John Paul II than by massive sexual abuse of children and the cover up of the abuse.
That was not the only time she had something to say ("Famine"):
She at least understood that she may have alienated people ("The Lamb's Book of Life"):
She also sang old Irish folk songs ("My Lagan Love"):
