I love Anne Murray.

polgara, I'll forgive you for posting Disco Duck, since you posted Annie Lennox and Alison Krauss in this thread I got to see Alison Krauss/Robert Plant perform a set together about 4 years ago, it was really, really good. When they did 'The Battle of Evermore', her voice was just haunting on the high part, even more than the original album version. And I bet Plant appreciated not having to squeeze his jewels to hit those high notes, these days.

 In my defense, I did say it was an evil duck.

She's not a recording artist yet, but I believe someday she will be. I first became aware of her when I had the TV on prior to the start of a NASCAR Nationwide Series race. I heard them say a 12 year old girl was going to sing the national anthem. I stopped what I was doing and looked at the TV, thinking maybe she's cute. Well, she's very pretty, and that's nice. I decided I'd give her a listen and see what she's got. I stood there and listened to that voice. By the time she got through singing, I knew that she didn't get handed that microphone because she's cute. She's got talent, and a lot of it.

She's been singing the national anthem a lot. She's sang it at numerous high school and college basketball games, an NBA playoff game, several NASCAR races, a Major League Baseball game, and the governor of Virginia's inauguration ceremony. There are numerous YouTube videos of her. A video of her playing the piano inspired me to start learning to play again at the age of 56.

Here's my favorite video of her singing the national anthem. She was 11 at the time.
