Us fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe owes a lot to this TV series success. Without it, Joss Whedon wouldn't have not only directed the first two Avengers movies but also wouldn't have Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It was pretty much about a girl named Buffy Summers (Sara Michelle Geller) who was chosen to defend Earth from vampires and other otherworldly threats which went on for 7 seasons and also had a spin-off series Angel.
My favorite characters were Faith, aka The Dark Slayer. Basically kind of the way Buffy would have turned out had she didn't have the family and friends Buffy has. From Angel, my favorite is Lilah Morgan. Basically think of Lilah as an evil Victoria Hand who worked for Wolfram & Hart lawfirm (Buffy and Angel's answer to HYDRA).

20 years. Damn, I'm feeling old now.
My favourite characters were Buffy, Spike and Willow, but basically everyone was fantastic! The only people I didn't like were Riley (ugh, I really could have done without that guy!) and Xander on occasion. Sure, he was a fun guy most of the time, but he could be a real a-hole as well.
Favourite season was the second. That one simply had everything!

I have decided to watch it again it in celebration. Since about midnight last night I have watched the first six episodes. My favorite characters are Buffy and Giles. I would say seasons two and three tie for my favorites.

My favorites were ... Pretty much all main characters from each season. Yes, that definitely includes Riley (an unpopular opinion, I know, but I will not apologize for it lol). I liked him a lot (especially when he punched Parker). I hated the storyline with the vamp thing in his last ep as a main character though. It was very OOC for him. He was way too anti-vampire for that. Must have been an episode written by that writer who writes characters OOC to fit storylines.
Speaking of OOC moments for storylines, making Spike nearly rape Buffy just to give him a reason to want to get a soul, was a bit much. I liked Spike pre-chip, post-chip and post-soul). He was far more interesting than Angel (who was okay in the beginning, but I found the soulless version of Angel kind of boring, honestly).
I loved Giles and often wished that he would marry Joyce and be Buffy's stepdad lol. Loved the Band Candy moments between Giles/Joyce. They just looked cute together.
Xander was also a favorite, but sometimes I did want to give him a Gibbs upside the head (especially when he tattled to Giles about Angel returning from the Hell dimension and then proceeded to push Faith to take Angel out. The grown up Xander was a big improvement on the high school version).
Of course I liked Buffy and Willow ... Cordy had some good moments and Anya was pretty interesting. Dawn was a little whiny at times, but I give her leeway since she was a kid. She grew on me fairly quickly. Loved Oz and Tara, but was not a fan of Kennedy. I liked Jonathan best of the trio. Andrew was annoying sometimes, but quite amusing at other times. Didn't like Warren much, even before the shot that broke Willow's heart.
I liked Amy, but didn't like what they did with her in the end.
I liked Ethan Rayne as a villian for the most part. He was an amusing trickster type of character.
Didn't like Faith's lack of backstory. Seriously, someone obviously really messed that girl up in her childhood. The writers gave us nothing other than seeing her watcher die and the fact that her mother was dead. The latter of which was an off-handed comment to someone/thing she was fighting: "my dead mother hits harder than that". Her appetite for sex leads me to believe that she was likely abused physically and sexually by someone either in her family, or close to her family. Or perhaps she just saw her father/stepdad abuse her mother that way (like Norman saw his father do to his mother on Bates Motel). I wish they'd given Faith a backstory to explain why she was so broken.

My favorite characters were Faith, aka The Dark Slayer. Hard to believe Eliza hasn't shown up on AoS yet. Her Dollhouse co-stars Dichen Lachman and Amy Acker have shown up on AoS and Enver Gjokaj was a regular on Agent Carter. She doesn't seem to mind that sort of casting - she did a really good guest episode of White Collar with fellow Tru Calling alum Matt Bomer, and she was also good in her TBBT appearance.

I can picture a fight scene between her and Daisy. Would love to see her on AOS.

Would love to see her on AOS. How about Talbot's new liaison? Not really good or evil, but rather bitchy. Perhaps like Creel she could be powered without being inhuman.

Ugh, I feel old. I went to high school right along side Buffy (in the sense that - when it started airing, her freshman year was the same year as my freshman year and so on). Loved this show... loved Angel as well. I don't think I can even pick a favorite episode.... or a favorite character. I really should rewatch the entire series.

I was past high school, had graduated college, and was 5 years into my second post-college job. Nothing like a person significantly younger than you calling themselves old to make you feel old...

Hmmm. Missed his thread. Favorite characters were Xander, Willow and Buffy. The core trio. Well, and Faith was too hot not to like Kind of see Fitz, Simmons and Daisy as a similar trio.
