I'm sorry to say this but I really can't see myself watching season 6 and enjoying it all if Clark (and Ming Na, if that was ever a doubt) won't be part of it.
I'll still watch because I won't reneg on my podcast writing work, but I feel like it would take some hard writing for me to enjoy it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they do something like that. I’m also not surprised we’re getting a shortened season. I suspect those negotiations were keeping the renewal announcement from coming. I also strongly suspect Disney had to stong-arm ABC into renewal again. They may claim they love the show, but the fact that they treat it like a red-headed stepchild says otherwise. I think this will likely be the last season on ABC. The good news is that if that is the case, they can take the show to the Disney streaming that’s coming. They can also migrate the characters onto other Marvel properties. Even if the show does end up canceled, I’m positive we’ll see it live on in some form. Meanwhile, I’m going to prepare to buckle up for yet another awesome season! 😄 Something to keep in mind about Disney. Brand Awareness. It's why Mickey Mouse still has a marketing campaign, even though he's one of the most recognizable icons in the world. Even if ABC is kicking and screaming that it doesn't want AoS on, I think Iger (or other power that be) is going to step in and push the brand. I'm sure Dungey could say no, but I'm sure Dungey likes her job, too. Since ABC doesn't seem to do a re-run season anymore, it's not like her summer prime-time slots are packed full. (I'm probably repeating myself here. Sorry.) I still expect some sort of weekly Star Wars show on if they can figure out how to make it work. (Star Wars is too effects heavy, which is why it's been sequestered to animation so far, and Pixar wouldn't be able to keep schedule without a sever reduction in quality.) We'll have to see how well Cloak and Dagger does on Freeform, though I can't believe AoS would be moved to one of Disney's lesser cable channels. So I'm a bit more optimistic than you. I think AoS has a pretty good future so long as Marvel Studios keeps it's winning pace, and so long as the MCU allows it (storywise). Those are all good points, too. I also am hoping that we'll get more webisodes like Slingshot to help fill the gap. It would be a great way to set up S6, as it's a shorter season. ABC has also said they're not thinking of this upcoming season as being the last, so for what it's worth, there's that.

It would be like trying to write out Lorne Greene out of Bonanza. There is a reason he is still alive, and has May as help. If magic can bridge a spinal cord, certainly they'll find a fix for Coulson. In the second or third arc of next season, he'll be saying hi to Fitz.
