And this week, we continue to march to Earth's ultimate destruction.
Opening monologue was perfect...
Coulson (to security camera): General Hale. I know your bummed the whole team up thing isn't going to happen. But it still seems kinda petty taking away my cot, my chair, and my Captain Crunch. That last one really hurt. And you're going to destroy the Earth, so...
Anyone notice that Hale has her down and isn't in a bun for the first time? Not so subtle, showrunners.
(Creel sticks hand in gravitonium)
Hale: What happened? What did you feel?
Creel: It's alive
I like Franklin Hall is still alive in there. Add in the Epilog, and they really are tying up every frickin' loose end. For four years all the fans have been saying, "And what happened with Quinn and the Gravitonium?" lol.
And the Deke train rolls on...
Fitz: I don't see it. None of you looks like me.
Deke: Well, I don't know what to tell you Grandpappy, I guess your daughter found a real man.
Fitz: Of all the people. Why couldn't it be Flint? I liked Flint.
Deke: Well, that's a loving sentiment. That's almost as loving as having a robot point a gun to my head.
Fitz: I didn't want to hurt anybody.
Deke: Fine. It's the first you made that actually made me respect you a little bit.
Deke (to Jemma): I don't remember you guys at all. I didn't even know your real names. Everyone at SHIELD changed them when you were being hunted down. I just knew you as Nana and Bobo.
Oh good. Another alias for Fitz. Bobo. I'm sure he'd be proud of that one.
Jemma: And you. Mack says you believe you can't die.
Yo-Yo: I know it sounds crazy...
Jemma: I don't think it's crazy, I believe it's true.
Yo-Yo: I'm glad someone understands.
Jemma: I don't just mean you.
Yo-Yo: You guys didn't see yourselves in the future.
Jemma: Deke is our proof. His mother, was our daughter.
(Insert of Fitz giving forlorn look)
Yo-Yo: Deke???
Jemma: Is our grandson.
Yo-Yo: Wow. (to Fitz) I'm sorry.
Deke might be the only reason this half of the season isn't overwhelmingly depressing. Well, Deke and Talbot...
No Daisy! Don't get Robin! Crap. Too late. I still don't think they want to follow Robin's future.
The picture Robin's Mom shows Daisy is different. Is the woman Daisy or May? It also looks like they're outdoors. Is the future already changing? And man, it was rough watching Robin call May, "Mommy" and hug her in front of her real mom. Nothing like knowing you're going to be replaced because you're no longer around, and who's replacing you.
And with May around, she starts drawing again.
May: We are going to try to make sure that this future, never happens. Okay? And to do that, we have to find...
Robin: Phillip J Coulson, he can put all the pieces together.
May: Yes, but he's lost and I'm lost without him.
Robin: Daisy, too. That's why you need each other so much.
May: Yeah.
Robin: He's gonna to die...
See? This is why you don't want to follow Robin's future!
And for a kid who draws humans pretty bad, they're scanning in the background mountains in hope of finding Coulson? This might be a bit of a stretch...
Aaaand, Simmons goes insane. This "invincible" thing is just as dumb as the "Fear Dimension". Jemma has made some really bad decisions lately.
Just as dumb is betraying Mack. I don't Mack isn't going to die, I think Mack is going to leave after being betrayed by the three invincibles...
Then, there was the Coulson/Talbot/Creel story line.
Talbot isn't alone, people have complained about my inside voice, too. I also have to add, that for all the thick walls and doors, the Hydra Academy isn't very soundproof...
(Creel restarts Coulson's heart.)
Talbot (to Coulson): You know, you die more than anyone I ever met.
Yeah, and we're expecting him to actually finalize the deal sometime soon...
And Coulson randomly chooses a place to teleport to. Well, if you were looking for a dumb Coulson move, this might have been one of 'em. About the noise of Coulson and Talbot teleporting in. Why is there a sound of someone teleporting in?
Talbot: Maybe next time send us someplace warm, huh? White sandy beaches and palm trees.
Coulson: That's not really my thing, anymore.
Gotta love Talbot. He makes a decent sidekick.
Then there was that epilogue. Ian Quinn and Raina! At least we know where Quinn has been. And how did Raina know the gravitonium (or Hall?) wanted Quinn? But then too, who cares. It was a fun scene even if all they did was sit around in the back of a van...
So Coulson is only gone for what, a week? And the team falls apart. What ever happened to united we stand, divided we fall?
Coulson and Talbot are in the middle of nowhere in the snow. Daisy, Deke and May are off trying to locate Coulson. Fitz, Simmons and Yo-Yo are off in search of a Hydra Weapon. Mack is locked in a cell in the Playground. Ruby is no longer obeying Mom. And the Aliens are coming.
So, situation pretty normal for the team. A lot can still happen in six episodes...
(And I won't mention the preview, but it's going to be good! If they're really showing what will be on next week...)
