Wasn't this thread about Star Trek at some point? This comment reminds me of those horrible scenes in Enterprise where the crew members had to go through decontamination, a.k.a. oiling each other in their underwear. Did they really have to add such blatantly cheap fanservice? Why yes it was. Right up until this post: Well, I have a totally different viewpoint on who is hot . Frankly I don't really consider any of the First Officers hot although Spock and Riker were certainly handsome. Hotness implies a certain beefcake factor and I will have to ponder who achieves that in the Star Trek universe. Okay, now I must know what you think of the Superior! He's actually a bit too muscular for my taste; nevertheless I just started watching Black Sails just for Zach McGowan. A bit less muscle and no stupid Russian accent. Win-win! And that's where it got derailed to objectifying males exclusively.

Pretty sure (and by this I mean absolutely certain) that the first person objectified was T'Pol, so we practice equal opportunity objectifying around here. I hope that doesn't make me some kind of SJW.

I hope that doesn't make me some kind of SJW. Perhaps, but T'Pol is relevant to Star Trek, as are Spock and Riker who were the equal opportunities. The Superior is in no way related to the Star Trek universe, and therefore signaled the derailing of the thread. And no, I do not wish to classify you as a SJW. Hopefully everyone realizes I'm just poking fun and not leveling any serious criticism...

And as this picture points out, ayanami , its a two way street...well, in this case, three way... Plus, in my defense, I only made one comment about Cobie Smulders in the live-watch of the Avengers, and even acknowledged Thor's arms along with Jemma Simmons and aquaangel. Honest Injun.

Those scenes were equal opportunity cringe if you ask me. Total embarassment for a Star Trek show!

Those scenes were equal opportunity cringe if you ask me. Total embarassment for a Star Trek show! Agreed. However, considering the censorship laws of the era, the yeoman's little miniskirt uniforms, and the greek goddess outfits from TOS were pretty darn racy. And lets not forget the Orion dancer-girls, both in TOS and especially, the movies! Troi was even wearing outfits like that in the first season or two of TNG. I really think it had to do a lot with the relaxing of public opinion on what was acceptable. They've always pushed the limit a bit for the respective time-period of production. To get the thread back on topic, I find it interesting that no one seems to like Chakotay much

So alien objectification is okay. I will keep that in mind for the GOTG threads.😁
Getting back on topic.... I actually liked Chakotay, I just couldn't choose him as favorite. I found his non Star Fleet viewpoint to be a change of pace.

When they got to Chakotay they got into a deep conversation about why he's rarely anyone's favorite character while also not a *hated* character. They tried but really struggled to pinpoint just what it is about him that doesn't make him stand out to fans. Personally, of the 'Voyager' episodes I've seen, there have been small moments where I found myself being interested in him. But those were few and far in between and it seems like he's mostly just "there". And aside from the bastard Cardassian Gul Madred, I've made it a point to like all ST characters. (Even Sisko, but on that front, I'm still failing).

Gul Madred: "How many lights do you see?" Picard: "There are *4* lights." *That* bastard Cardassian. Imagine Coulson instead of Picard in that scene: Gul Madred: How many lights do you see? Phil Coulson: Well, there's four lights, but only 3 of them are lit. Really, I think one of your bulbs burned out. [Gul Madred turns around to check] Phil Coulson: Made you look!

Yeah but then Madred would look back at Coulson and press the button of evil that shoots pain through his body. It's similar to Coulson's experience in 'The Magical Place' only worse because he'd leave the button on all night.
