My favorite Captain is Picard.
However, I feel like Archer is the *best* Captain.
Sacrilege, I know.

Dang, it's hard to choose. I went ahead and went with Picard but I'd say Janeway is probably a close second for me.

Second in command would be a much tougher choice for me. Basically everyone (except Chakotey) was amazing!

You're not a fan of Chakotay? I liked him Nah, he was basically the only character in all the Star Trek shows that I had an active dislike against. I could tolerate him as part of the crew, but the episodes focused on him were always the worst imo and that last minute hook-up with Seven did nobody any favours.

I think Archer had the most wasted potential. I really liked Enterprise, but I had hoped that it would focus more on the exploration aspect. Instead, it seemed to get bogged down in the intrigue.

O was always more of a DS9 fan, but Picard was just the man. 😄

I'm old school. Had to go with Kirk. Can't blame anybody for choosing Picard.

Dang, it's hard to choose. I went ahead and went with Picard but I'd say Janeway is probably a close second for me. Janeway is above Kirk and Sisko (who share the last place slot for differing reasons) when I list my order of liking them, (which makes her next after Archer who is right under Picard). I'd actually like to put her higher up but I think my problem with Voyager is that while I like the Captain, I have a few issues with being able to like the other characters on that show. Not saying I hate them or hate Voyager, I certainly do not. I just like shows where characters have different types of relationships with other characters and they aren't all the *same* kind of relationship. It's hard to explain, I guess, because I don't really see those relationships on VOY. If it helps, my favorite relationship dynamic is the one between Janeway and Q! Also, I'm loving that so far Picard has the most votes and Archer has the second most. I'm actually glad that Archer got even one vote in all honesty...

I can't really name what it is, there's just something about it that just doesn't *catch* me like TNG or ENT (yep, I mean 'Enterprise'). That doesn't stop me from appreciating DS9's place in the ST world or the important role it plays as a whole, though!

I think Archer had the most wasted potential. I really liked Enterprise, but I had hoped that it would focus more on the exploration aspect. Instead, it seemed to get bogged down in the intrigue. I've actually researched why many fans dislike Archer/Enterprise as a whole (because 'Enterprise' is my second favorite series) and one constant reason was the hatred of the Temporal Cold War/Xindi arcs. I also came across many interviews and articles that said that Brannon Braga had the idea for both as early as the later seasons of TNG but they weren't done until 'Enterprise' because there was no point in any of the preceding shows where these arcs would fit with the direction/tone of each respective show. As a prequel, I do see where both arcs somewhat distance themselves from the rest of the ST canon because neither are referenced or mentioned by the subsequent series (obviously). I wonder what it would have been like if Voyager has done the Xindi arc or DS9 had the Temporal Cold War arc... Perhaps, 'Enterprise' would've gotten that magic 7th season...

Either you love DS9 the most or you like it the least. I don't think there's an in-between. It was simply very different from the other shows. A lot darker, especially with whole seasons focused on the Dominion war; far less exploration; lots of focus on religion and politics; etc. But for me that was exactly what I loved about it. Story arcs that could stretch whole seasons, many fascinating multi-dimensional characters, problems that didn't come with easy solutions or could be solved by flying past them, constantly evolving relationships, etc. I could list stuff here forever!

Quite a few of my friends are Voyager fans. One of my roommates at university and I had an ongoing rivalry regarding DS9 and VOY.
