Here's a space to discuss episode 5.3. Can't wait to do the live watch tonight! My first comment on this ep will be non-spoilery cryptic commentary: Mary Sue Poots/Skye/Daisy/Quake/Skye/Daisy/Quake (that's starting to get difficult to keep up with....) still has yet to reach Ward's level of cool. Good action scenes, though. Will hold off on any more commentary until later this weekend when everybody has had a chance to watch.

Well, it does say "Spoilers" in the title... Major ones follow below... Here's my take. Every time they show the Kree, I like them less and less. (Never liked the Smurfs, either. Perhaps I'm racially biased against blue people. Yondu was okay, though.) So the entire purpose of the Lighthouse is a breeding ground for Kasius to find Inhumans and sell them into a Fight Club? Did I read that right? I thought the Kree despised Inhumans. Well, selling them into a probable death sentence might be okay. Anyway, I think it's a forgone conclusion Kasius and Sinara need to die. Deke might have made it onto the list as well. Deke did mention the Multi-verse. The world they're in may be an alternate reality, which may mean getting the team back home will be a bit less messy. Has anyone noticed there are some rather gruesome deaths that occur on this show? I've read about people with telekinesis grabbing an opponents heart and exploding it, but this is the first time I think someone actually reached in and grabbed someones heart... I would have though the girl (Abby?) would have been a bit more traumatized by killing someone, but that might be the world she lives in. What does May know about flying spaceships and gravity storms? Still not convinced here. Awesome fight between Daisy and those two Kree (lol on the Men In Black elevator trick), but I'm disappointed that Daisy hasn't learned the Jedi skill of holding your breath against poison gas while you blast a hole in the floor/wall. Certainly she's seen the movie! Another nice touch, reusing the tease from S4. Probably saved a few bucks on production. At least now it's wholly in context. So, who's on Earth? (Or not on Earth, but underground, most likely.) Unfortunately, I didn't recognize the voice, and it didn't have a Scottish accent. I wonder the the guy in the preview isn't from the Lighthouse, but Earth. Should be interesting. And lol at the final scene where the guy YoYo framed (Zev?) gets killed by the bugs on Earth. Sorta drove Ava's point home. (Mack didn't look happy YoYo framed the guy. He refused to kill him in the trawler, only to have YoYo put the death sentence on him? Mack better not disappoint me...) And still no Fitz. That backstory can't come soon enough...

Firt thoughts. I liked the ep more than I thought I would. It's like an episode were you have to sit through until the episodes come with new information of why team has been send here. Waiting for the big climax and then again having tons of new questions. Was also better than the description showed us: Daisy wanting to save Simmons. It was more than just that. I loved the whole Simmons/Inhuman arcline. Jemma is like the Inhuman wishperer And some happy (relative) ending is also nice once in a while. I also thought that the young actress did a good job. Lot of emotion. I need to rewatch the ep. I didn't understand what was going on with Coulson's team arc. Where did the signal go through? Why would the fat dude want them on the mission (didn't understand except for the thought he was stolen from. what surface was the poor dude sent to? Earth? How can earth even have a gravity and air? Quake: destroyer of worlds. The boss dude must be so happy. What a profit he can make of her. She must a be legend in the known galaxy That has a nice ring to it We got a nice view of the delecate eco system Deke referred to last ep. Daisy and the team are big elephants rushing through that system. But ... Deke is also wrong about one thing: they were send there for a pupose. There must be a reason why it is important that the team does was it does. And we were left to believe that that was to save earth. Thus more than just detroying a ecosystem. Oh. Nice to the see the scene where season 4 ended wtih. Edit: Oh. And 616? Not a location in space but the number of a universe? Marvel universe 616?

The episode aired, this thread is clearly marked as an episode discussion thread and even says "Spoilers" in the title. If anyone comes in here who hasn't seen the episode yet, they clearly want to know what happened (or are complete and utter morons)! As to Skye, yeah, I gotta admit, the moment she tried to hide in that elevator, my mind went straight back to S1 episode 3 "The Asset", and Ward's "relative strength training". And Skye complaining about pull-ups. Cue Ward: "When you're hanging over the side of a building, you're going to want to do at least one more." (Or something to that effect.) Okay, it wasn't a pull-up, but I still think Ward would have been disappointed that she didn't manage to stay hidden!

The fat guy (Grill) didn't really want the team on the mission, but on Coulson's insistence, Tess asked for support since she had to bring in a double haul. Grill agreed, since they were new guys and not the best workers, so he wouldn't miss them if they were killed. He then send his own guy Zev along, because he suspected Virgil and now the team of stealing from him. As for the surface, yes, it's what's left from earth. I suppose the biggest piece still halfway intact is big enough to maintain at least some atmosphere.Quake: destroyer of worlds. The boss dude must be so happy. What a profit he can make of her. WTH? My reference to "not as cool as Ward" was because Ward rode the ceiling block down when he came through the ceiling in S3, Daisy let it fall then jumped for a superhero landing. Ward's had a higher cool factor, IMO. Your S1 reference hadn't occurred to me; but, yes, it's a spot-on observation. Kudos, and thanks for the S1 flash-back.

I can't account for the "air" (atmosphere) but ayanami 's response may account for the gravity issue. Although we've yet to see how big that particular chunk of Earth is, there may be enough mass to allow for enough gravity to keep things grounded........ There's been a lot of easter egg fan speculation about the 616 references and also the floating bus. However, a multi-verse reference along with 616 references may actually mean "something" this time around.... Hopefully we'll get some answers in the show or from the showrunners........

Now I'll go off on one of my long winded recaps/reviews/whatever you want to call it....... The premiere opening: My first thought was: did I hit the right show on my DVR? WTF am I watching...... Having now watched a few times, here's my thoughts. The artwork on the fridge will probably have a significance we'll learn about later. Can't be a coincidence that there were six people inside one person on the drawing on the fridge and bald-headed, swimming, skin suit dude specifically sent six people through. The artwork on the fridge was a kid's drawings; knowing who will appear in ep 5, I wonder if that was the Hinton house he was in? Although baldy is pretty much an unknown and most likely an alien, I don't necessarily think he's a bad guy. He had a list to send through and those sent were expected by Virgil and a yet to be identified group on the surface. Baldy is either part of that organization or a freelancer that was hired to Stone Hinge the team..... Speaking of Stone Hinge...... Am I crazy in thinking that the monolith used in S5 isn't necessarily Kree? Who's to say all monoliths are Kree? This one definitely had a different look to it;.... yeah, different purpose - different rock...... but it could also be: different look/design - different species. We know that red-eyed bitch Basha has been to seven systems, so... is it possible the rock is from a species that's not Kree? Speaking of the Blue's...... it won't take long for Kasius to get old for me. Although I can't name or reference other characters from other shows, he seems like a tired, used up trope to me. I hope they keep him interesting and not just a narcissistic a-hole. Now, Sinara, on the other hand, is all kinds of interesting (so far). I like how the show is handling the slavery angle by more showing and less telling. This is something the show usually does well and so far they're doing it right, IMO. Add to it the indentured servitude among the enslaved humans....... and Mack's statement about lost humanity really rings true. Speaking of Mack..... He's actually less annoying to me thus far. The premiere had room for him to over do it, but as far as I'm concerned they kept him reined in a bit; and, his smart-ass comments seemed as organic as the snark from the rest of the team. Maybe The Framework did change him a bit? Speaking of the framework.... Am I the only one that finds it difficult to believe that in a world controlled by HYDRA........ that Spanish would be required in a school system attended by a 10 or 11 year old? Doesn't seem like something Hydra would mandate...... Oh, yeah..... I said organic...... Speaking of organic..... This is the best season beginning out of the five. The way they ended S4 and the way they're starting S5 really has an organic feel to it (except for the premiere opening scene; again, WTF?). I think they've done a great job transitioning from last season and introducing us to this one. Like I said, it has a real organic feel to it and the world building is really fluid as well. Besides the writing, I think one of the reasons they did a great job is set design. The set designers built a believable world; and, of course the VFX are off the hook. Even the score has been perfect and helps set, even dictate, the emotions of the moment. ayanami mentioned make-up in a different post, and she's hella right. To make up Sinara so I can't even recognize that actress, was quite a feat. I even like the job they did on Jemma. It seems like a weird color scheme but it fits the environment and theme and actually looks good in a weird way. The newbies: I could have put up with Virgil getting more screen-time. He would've made good snark bait and I thought it interesting that a character in the show was fan-boying hard over the team like all the fans of the show do on social media and at cons. I got a good chuckle out of that. Tess is gold. Such a great contrasting fit to the team. Deek: So this is what used car salesmen of the future are like? (just kidding). Deek is a real interesting character, and I mean "character"..... and he didn't screw over Daisy, he's doing what he said he would: help them (her) achieve goals by playing the long game. He's a good guy, through and through..... Similar to Hunter in S2: a seeming lone wolf who'll end up being the ultimate team player. I just hope he doesn't shoot May like Hunter did. Grill: will either end up dead or kissing Coulson's ass. TBD. Flint: The show spent some promotional effort introducing these new characters before the season began, and Flint was included in that. I can't wait to see what part he'll play. Now to the team: A lot has been said on the team's actions in this new environment; such as Jemma saving that servant and the team's reluctance to adhere to the status quo (or at least appear to adhere). I'm reminded of Yo-Yo's comment in S4: "Smart people are stupid." These guys need to quit digging their hole deeper..... but it has been fun to watch. As for the time travel and/or different reality of it all, I'm gonna hold off on speculating just yet and enjoy the ride; hoping they don't take us down a used up trope of a rabbit hole. I kinda miss Fitz. Can't wait for the fifth ep and see how he's doing.
