In the pilot episode the guy was walking around on a pair or massive hooves - that even were a huge plot point - this week he's wearing a pair of run-of-the-mill boots, that should have been impossible for him to fit into in the first place. Seriously, how cheap can a prime time show on a leading network channel be?!? First Medusa's hair, now this?? Well, maybe they shouldn't have decided to locate the main part of the show's action on Hawaii, one of the most expensive filming areas in America, if that meant they'd have to make cuts everywhere else.  |

IIRC, he also wore boots in part of the premiere when on earth. Saves on CGI like cutting Medusa's hair. Sammy was pretty cool. I hope he sticks around. The plant bender was cool, too. Hope she becomes an ally....... Bane..... ahem..... I mean Mordis...... well, time will tell if he's interesting or not This whole thing is starting to give me a Thor's first movie vibe. Blackbolt/Thor is crowned price turned King and Maximus/Loki is the jealous brother. Maximus/Loki sends Mordis/Destroyer to Earth to kill his brother. Louise/Jane will liaise between Inhumans/Asgardians but without the romantic entanglement as Baldy already has that part...... Sif and the Warriors Three/Gorgon, Karnak, Crystal/Medusa are on Earth to help Thor/Blackbolt............ I guess Lockjaw is filling the Mjolnir role? Oh, and speaking of Lockjaw: I think him being injured by that 4-wheeler is a little too convenient and a bit lazy in the writing department. I'm still not sold, but I'm not giving up either. Is it Dec 1st, yet?  |

Is it Dec 1st, yet? I just re-checked, and you're right. He wore the boots when he landed on earth until he went into the ocean. It even has a good in-universe explanation, as a guy with hooves on his feet is not exactly inconspicuous. Still, the fact remains that it clearly shouldn't fit and is kind of contradictory to the basic set-up of the show, with having all those outlandish, powered people. But, just as with Medusa they simply dropped that for budget/simplicity purposes. *sigh* (Pretty sure the hooves were prosthetic makeup, no CGI.) Really makes you wonder why Marvel even bothered with the TV show in the first place, if they weren't going to put any considerable effort into it. Funnily enough, I told my sister about the show today, including the fact that I find Maximus to be the most relatable character at this point, and she also said that it reminded her of Thor and Loki. Well, Maximus is no Loki, that's for sure... |

I guess next week will be when Blackbolt and Medusa reunite?
I liked Flora and hope she becomes an ally as well. Mordis seems interesting. That mask reminds me of a welder mask (old style). Loved how Crystal showed up Maximus. Did he really think she was going to play ball? He acts like a jealous, spoiled brat throwing a tantrum cause he can't legitimately be king (due to being human). I do agree with him though on the cruelty of making those without powers work in the mines.
I agree that Maximus is no Loki. Blackbolt is no Thor either. Also, Blackbolt's power kind of sucks for him (not being able to talk for fear of hurting someone).
Maybe Gorgon's boots are like Mary Poppins' bag?

I'm wondering a bit how John Larroquette is managing both Librarians and Me Myself and I. The boots were quite prominent in this episode, if it was a mistake then they didn't even try to hide it. The big fight was a bit of a letdown - it was obvious neither Gorgon nor Auran would be killed, but I did like that Gorgon grabbed and carried away his fallen team member. I'm thinking Bolt and Medusa are going to be a will they/won't they for finding each other. You compared Mordis to Bane, but from what I've seen so far, Cyclops from X-Men is a better fit. |
