Looks decent, but they really should have used Cherry Bomb for the background music.

Anyone been keeping up with this show? I've slogged through 4 episodes and am bored to tears with it. Does it get any better?

Still got four or five episodes of The Gifted piled up. Just out of curiosity, though: Does Runaways have any actual MCU connections?

Was looking more for actual input or even examples from someone who's been watching, than a general wikipedia article I could find myself. Doesn't appear to have any direct connection to the existing MCU as we know it, yet it does "exist' in the MCU universe as we know it. The upcoming Cloak and Dagger (on Freeform) will probably have the same relationship. The runaways are children of the Pride. Here's a bit on the Pride's history: marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Pride_(Earth-616)All that said, even considering Beren's input, I really want to see it. Looks interesting to me; although, you may have reservations as it will probably (at least partially) fall into the "gifted humans being pursued" trope. I'll probably have to wait and see if it will get a blu-ray release.

I know my views differ a lot from some of you, when we get away from AoS...but seriously, I am curious to hear what you all have to say about Runaways.. For me it is on the level of Inhumans bad. After I watched/slept through the 4th episode, I had to peek in at IMDb to see some reviews..except for the couple of fan-natics, the vast majority of reviews reflected my thoughts pretty well. Slow, slow pace, no characters to rally around, poor acting, teenie drama, and just so much more (er, less..). Nonetheless, we all like different things, so I would love to hear more input, positive OR negative, when more of you get around to watching it. I'm still trying to decide to bother with giving it more time, but I am stubborn, so will probably at least wade through the next 4 episodes or so, hoping SOMETHING will happen... Edit: ayanami , I knew someone more knowledgeable about the MCU could answer your question better, but to the point, so far (4 eps in) there is nothing that I see whatsoever that ties it in.

That's interesting. I don't go to IMDb for reviews; I go to Rotten Tomatoes and they reflect a different reception of the show: I'll have to do a comparison of the two this weekend and see why it is they differ so much......

In fairness, episode 5 was an improvement. Without spoiling anything, I'll just say something happened. Finally. Still many flaws to overcome, but who knows..other shows have gotten off to a slow start, and turned out great. A side note to DoTheMath : What do you think of changing the name of this thread to 'Runaways' and it can just be the official board for the show. Just a thought.

Ok, another non-spoilery update for DoTheMath after 8 episodes (yes I kept watching)... The plot DOES actually start to develop, and even gets half interesting. I'm probably in for at least all of season one. As far as the acting, well the kids do a decent job, even though the writers followed such tropey (is that a word?) stereotype with the characters. I was perhaps misleading in my initial review. Given the nature of the show, of course there is going to be some teen angst involved. I went into it knowing and expecting it, and didn't really mean to list it as a negative aspect. There is even a bit of resolution to some of it. That being said, the really poor acting of most of the adults (again, stereotyped and poorly written as well), combined with the super, super slow start, is going to be a big hill for the show to climb if it is to succeed.

Thnx for the update. Don't know when I'll be able to watch it, but watch it I will.
