Two more casting announcements: I first saw Minka on Almost Human. She was great in that. Can't wait to see how she does as a Super Hero......

So this was my first impression of what I've seen of the show so far: Now the CC trailer is out, though, and I'm just like, damn! This is actually looking reeeeeally good. Plus, I loved Alan Richson on Blood Drive, so for him alone I'm going to check the show out.

The first two episodes are out now and I actually kinda like it. But I can also easily see why fans of the source material may not. Not that I've actually seen or read anything of the Teen Titans, but going by what I've gathered so far, that team-up seems a lot more lighthearted than Titans. The show is rated R and, yeah honestly, it stands for Robin! The dude alone would feel right at home in the Watchmen movie or the Marvel Netflix universe and I guess that even Ben Affleck's Batman might wonder if he overdid it with his sidekick's training. Rachel/Raven's powers are all sorts of scary, but I think it fits very well with the character and doesn't feel forced or overdone to fit the rating. Beastboy only had one tiny scene so far, which was kinda cool, but far too little to comment any further on the character. Starfire has certainly gotten the most heat before the show's release, due to the weird character design, and I have to say, yeah, she does look like a hooker! At first I even thought she was actually working as one, but she appears to have more than enough money herself, so why would she? In her first appearance, the character wakes up from a car crash with amnesia, and after one episode (she isn't in the second), we still don't know much about her other that that she's rich, she's looking for Rachel and she thinks deep-frying a bunch of guys is funny! I mean, sure, they were trying to kill her and it was self-defence without a doubt, but it's still not the reaction you'd expect from a normal person. Honestly, at this point, pretending I don't know anything about the source material, I would peg her as one of the bad guys! I've mentioned the Watchmen movie above and I think this is certainly the closest in tone you can find to Titans. Sure, the Netflix shows are dark and gritty, too, but they also don't feel like superhero shows to begin with. Here on the other hand you have Robin in his boy-wonder outfit (although the colours are considerably darker), and even flashier heroes like Hawk and Dove. The latter taking the cake so far with her full-feathered, bulletproof outfit! Come to think of it, I guess I kinda have to hand it to DC for actually having the balls to go the full-on costumed superhero road on this one! Most shows and even movies in the last two decades have been trying to tone the costumes down, make them more practical, relatable and down to earth, and Titans just goes: "Nah, f*ck this! Superheroes are mainstream now. Capes and wings it is!" I like it.

Superheroes are mainstream now. Capes and wings it is!" I like it. The reviews I've read pretty much mirror yours. I'm glad to get confirmation from a known, trusted source. I've already added this to my list of shows I'll definitely watch............ some day. One reviewer even said (paraphrasing) "if you're a source purist, don't watch this, it's not for you." He doesn't want to hear people trash a great show just because it's not particularly accurate to the source material. You'd think that by now people would grasp that studios take liberties. Source junkies just need to get over it. I'm just thankful that this is all happening in my lifetime. When I was much younger, I had my doubts.
The only knock I've seen is some reviewers say it's a slow burn. However, they say it's worth it for the character development. Time will tell........
Please continue to provide non-spoilery updates.

Will do! As far as the "slow burn" is concerned, I can agree in so far as that after two episode I still don't have the slightest clue about what is going on. But, yeah, the character development is interesting and the mystery intriguing, so I'll keep watching.

Well, erm, so much to me posting regular updates... *cough* Anyway, the first season of Titans is over now and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a bit of a novel take regarding its storytelling, as it didn't really follow the standard TV formula. The way the show was presented at first, you would have expected that the Titans as a group would be at the center, but while that is true to a certain extent, the whole thing felt more like a puzzle to me, being pieced together over the course of the season with each episode's focus varying greatly. For example, there are several of the 11 episodes of the season that don't feature all of the core group to begin with. Yet on the other hand "outside" characters such as Jason Todd, Hawk and Dove, Doom Patrol, etc. have their own day in the limelight, widening the scope of the show significantly. The only real constants are Dick Grayson, who is without a doubt the main protagonist, and Rachel, who the story itself revolves around. My only "gripe" of the first season would be that it was apparently supposed to consist of 12 episodes to begin with, and the end of ep 11 - while a very terrifying cliffhanger - did not feel like a season finale to me. Thus I was extremely disappointed when I was hoping for a new episode one week later. Damn it, I gots to know!!

Hmmm....... seems to me that, although it wasn't to your liking, it must be a great cliffhanger. Thanks for the review. Can't wait until I get to see it.
