The Characters' Personalities: The Good And The Bad

Oh my God!! I'm dying laughing over here about what you wrote about Ward... mostly because I totally agree with you! You really did a great job of catching each character's strengths and weaknesses! I'll have to see if I can think of anything to add!

Lincoln: the good: was a doctor so clearly at some point wanted to help people; sacrificed himself which saved the world (regardless of the real reason he did it, to save Daisy more or less).

I mean yeah, the character was kind of boring. That was mostly because he was written around Daisy, to be a love interest and not really developed as an individual. He could have been a good character if the writers hadn't made Daisy his only focus.

As for the good regarding Ward: I can't think of much more than he wasn't too hard on the eyes lol.

Robbie :

Good: genuinely cares about his brother. Has a cool car. Has helped the team and sometimes with no hesitation.

Bad: has been known to have a bit of an attitude and anger issue even when he is himself. Is possessed. Took justice in his own hands against that gang. Trust issues.


Ghost Rider:

Good: is very helpful/useful in a fight.

Bad: is a demon?



Sorry, my mind is drawing blanks, but I didn't want to leave him out. Someone else I don't want to leave out:


Radcliffe:

Good: cared about Fitz. Had good intentions in the beginning at least. Came through for the team in the end.

Bad: overly ambitious, became a bit mad scientist, sometimes selfish. A bit cocky and arrogant.

Leopold Fitz
The Good:
1). Fitz is probably the most moral of the regular characters. For example, he never killed anyone unless he had to and always feels bad about it afterward. An exception might be a scene in "The Law of Inferno Dynamics" that was shot just to create a cool visual image. They even had the right-handed Simmons shoot with her left hand so that she and Fitz could be mirror images.
2). If you are in the room with Fitz and Simmons, and you are neither Fitz nor Simmons, then you are not the smartest person in the room.
Best Moments:
1). Being the "real hero" in "F.Z.Z.T."
2). In "The Hub", he saved Ward from Russian mobsters and performing quite well overall despite not being qualified for field operations.
3). He found the location of the Guest House in "T.A.H.I.T.I."
4). He stood up to Garrett in "Turn, Turn, Turn."
5). He carried out his vow to hurt Garrett with an EMP in "Ragtag."
6). He came up with a plan to escape the container pod and gave Simmons the last of the oxygen in "Beginning of the End."
7). He came up with a way to neutralize Carl Creel in "Heavy Is the Head," discovered that Hydra brainwashed Donnie Gill in "Making Friends and Influencing People," and discovered the sabotage unit that Agent 33 planted on the Bus in "Face My Enemy." All this was while he had severe brain damage.
8). In "The Things We Bury," he performed very well in the field even though the writers had not quite reached the point where they got tired of his brain damage and healed him completely.
9). He was the only one to fully accept Daisy's changes "Aftershocks"/"Who You Really Are" and defend her against the prejudices of other members of the team.
10). He carried out the successful heist of Fury's toolbox in "Afterlife."
11). He designed the device to contain Gordon in "S.O.S. Part 2."
12). While he was motivated by obsession and did a lot of stupid things, Fitz did rescue Simmons from Maveth in "Purpose in the Machine." Afterward, he was very patient and nurturing toward Simmons as he helped her get used to being on earth again.
13). In "Maveth," he worked to help rescue Will from Maveth even though this could have meant the end of his relationship with Simmons. When he finally discovered that "Will" was really Hive, Fitz fought well and partially incinerated the body, making it no longer a suitable host. It is not Fitz's fault that Coulson provided another host.
14). He created increasingly more useful artificial hands for Coulson, including a shield for the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.
15). After being strung along for nearly two years, he finally scored with Simmons in "The Singularity."
16). He successfully kept Daisy out of the S.H.I.E.L.D. servers until May called him off in "Emancipation."
17). When trying to override nuclear launch codes in "Absolution," he entered a few hundred characters in twenty seconds without error.
18). He took out Giyera in "Ascension."
19). He figured out how to defeat the Watchdogs in "Uprising" despite not being able to use any tech more advanced than a slide rule.
20). With Simmons's help, he created the mechanism that trapped Eli Morrow in another dimension.
21). in "Wake Up," he figured out that Radcliffe programmed AIDA to find the Darkhold when everyone assumed that AIDA simply went rogue, and figured out that the Radcliffe that they captured was an LMD.
22). At Madame Hydra's prodding, he gave the order that took out the terrorist known as the Patriot in "No Regrets."
23). He completed his gizmo to turn AIDA into a real girl in "All the Madame's Men."
24). In "Farewell Cruel World!" he blocked May when she tried to shoot Ophelia. This may have looked like a goof, but shooting Ophelia would have just enraged her. Fitz's action may have saved Coulson and May.
25). In "The Return," he successfully persuaded Ophelia to rescue Mack.
The Bad:
1). He is not merely in love with Simmons; he is obsessed with Simmons. The second and third seasons both opened with Fitz separated from Simmons for an extended period of time. While there were other relevant circumstances (e.g., severe brain damage), in neither case was Fitz a functional S.H.I.E.L.D. agent. Furthermore, despite how Simmons treated him for about two seasons, he never once stopped and realized that he could probably do better than her.
2). I could generalize this to Fitz routinely accepting abuse. For example, he never held a grudge against the rest of the team for their treatment of him after he was brain damaged (see Coulson's worst moments).
Worst Moments:
1). While well-meaning, he has been a bumbler since the final commercial break of the second season. He has some responsibility in creating nearly every problem that S.H.I.E.L.D. dealt with over the third and fourth seasons except for Ward rebuilding Hydra, Lucy and the ghosts, Eli Morrow, and Ivanov and the Watchdogs.

• He opened the latch that led to Simmons being dragged to Maveth.
  
• He let himself get captured by Hydra easily without attempting to escape, hide, or destroy the valuable data that he and Simmons brought with them to what they knew was a Hydra facility.
• While in Hydra custody, he gave in to torture, which led to him going on the mission that brought Hive back from Maveth.
  

• He was instrumental in Holden Radcliffe being exonerated for his third season crimes.
  
• He played a major role in creating the Framework and LMDs.
• He persuaded AIDA to read the Darkhold.

2). he tried to kill (or at least give a good scare to) Ward in "Making Friends and Influencing People." Admittedly, his brain damage might have been a good excuse.
3). During the first two episodes of the third season, there were three different times in which his obsession over Simmons could have gotten him killed based on what he knew (e.g, he had no reason to know that the actor playing him was contracted at least until the end of the season):

• He marched into a terrorist den without backup. He was lucky that they did not just shoot him.
• He tried to get swallowed up by the monolith. He had no reason to know that it would have simply dumped him into an awkward love triangle.
• He dove through a hole in the universe without any protective gear not knowing if there was a breathable atmosphere or a habitable temperature on the other side,

4). In real life, his kissing Simmons in "Many Heads, One Tale" would get him disciplined for sexual harassment, if not sexual assault.
5). Unlike Mack, he did not stand up to Daisy's disregard for civil rights in "Watchdogs."
6.) He and Simmons botched the mission to recruit Holden Radcliffe in "The Singularity," although it was questionable whether he would have succeeded even with a better plan.
7). In "Farewell, Cruel World!" he spent too much time monologuing and failed to avenge his father's murder.


Jemma Simmons
The Good:
1). If you are in the room with Fitz and Simmons, and you are neither Fitz nor Simmons, then you are not the smartest person in the room.
Best Moments:
1). She was willing to sacrifice herself for the safety of others in "F.Z.Z.T."
2). She dove on a grenade in "T.R.A.C.K.S." She did not know that it was just an ICEr grenade
3). With Trip's help, she passed Victoria Hand's test in "Turn, Turn, Turn."
4). She saved Fitz in "Beginning of the End" despite his attempt to perform a heroic sacrifice.
X). She was supportive of Fitz in his time of greatest need early in the second season. No, wait, that was a hallucination. The real Simmons abandoned him.
5). She survived while infiltrating Hydra.
6). She subdued Morse during the Real S.H.I.E.L.D. coup in "One Door Closes."
7). She planned the successful heist of Fury's toolbox in "Afterlife."
8). She survived while on Maveth.
9). Over the course of 28 weeks, she accomplished something that Hydra failed to do in 1,000 years: figure out how to come back from Maveth.
10). With Fitz's help, she discovered the link between Hydra and the monolith in "Many Heads, One Tale."
11). While freeing Lash was not a great idea, she showed good initiative when she escaped from Hydra custody.
12). She finally ended nearly two years of stringing Fitz along in "The Singularity."
13). She successfully implemented Professor Vaughan's third year compiler theory to save Fitz (and an extra) in "Absolution."
14). She figured out how to blind the alpha primitives in "Ascension."
15). She saved May's life in "Uprising."
16). She showed kindness toward Vijay Nadeer in "Deals with Our Devils."
17). With Fitz's help, she created the mechanism that trapped Eli Morrow in another dimension.
18). From "The Patriot" through "The Man behind the Shield," there was one mandatory scene per episode in which Simmons was supportive of Fitz, something she had rarely been since S.H.I.E.L.D. fell to Hydra in the first season. [Note: I had a wacky theory that the Simmons LMD from "World's End" had been around for a while and was in plain sight. Part of this theory was that Simmons being nurturing and supportive was so out of character over the past 2 1/2 seasons that this had to have been the LMD instead. I had to toss the theory when I realized that much of "Self Control" would not make sense if there were a Simmons LMD that everyone knew about.]
19). She was incredibly awesome in "Self Control," particularly in recognizing and defeating LMD Fitz.
The Bad:
1). For much of the second and third seasons, she treated Fitz like $#!+
2). She acts as if she is above the law. For example, I have a different thread on her sacrificing 12 (possible) innocents in "Maveth" to save herself when better S.H.I.E.L.D. agents sacrifice themselves to save innocents. However, this should not have happened as she should have been in prison (or at least in jail awaiting trial) for murdering Bakshi in "The Dirty Half Dozen." This too, should not have happened because she should have been drummed out of S.H.I.E.L.D. for ICEing Jasper Sitwell in "The Hub" (or was it still the "night-night gun back then?). Admittedly, this could apply to nearly everyone on this list.
3). She has a tendency to exaggerate her accomplishments. For example, I could bore you with a rant on how completely implausible it is for her to have two Ph.D.s by the time she was 17.
Worst Moments:
1). In "The Only Light in the Darkness," she responded to a perceived rift between her best friend for eight years (Fitz) and someone she recently met (Trip) by confronting the former on behalf of the latter.
2). When Fitz was recovering from his brain damage and really needed his best friend, Simmons abandoned him. Upon her return, she showed little interest or patience in Fitz. By the middle of the second season, she seemed like she was actively trying to contrive ways to justify her mistreatment of Fitz, at least until the Real S.H.I.E.L.D. coup.
3). She at least owed Fitz a conversation that went something like, "I'm sorry, but I do not feel that way about you. You're a nice guy. We can still be friends. etc." Instead she would not even discuss Fitz's feelings toward her until deep into "S.O.S. Part 2."
4). She became prejudiced against people with powers starting in "Aftershocks."
5). She attacked Fitz for protecting Daisy in "Who You Really Are."
X). While I am harsh about her treatment of Fitz, I will not count her sleeping with Will as one of her worst moments. Aside from a couple of scenes in "S.O.S. Part 2," it has been at least somewhat clear throughout the second season that she was not romantically interested in Fitz. Even with those scenes, she clearly did not have a committed relationship with Fitz. She was perfectly entitled to pursue any relationship she chose. If anything, it was probably unrealistic that she waited so long to sleep with Will.
6). I will blame her for not making it clear to Fitz exactly where he stood with her after her return. She never told him who she would choose if Will made it back to earth safely nor did she explicitly say that she was still undecided. I suspect that she would have chosen Will. If true, and we do not know if this is true or not, she could be seen as using Fitz's feelings toward her to manipulate him into helping her bring back her preferred partner.
7). In "Closure," along with Fitz, she let herself get captured easily without attempting to escape, hide, or destroy the valuable data that they brought with them to what they knew was a Hydra facility.
8.) She and Fitz botched the mission to recruit Holden Radcliffe in "The Singularity," although it was questionable whether she would have succeeded even with a better plan.
9). She was a bit of an @$$ toward Mace during the first half of the fourth season, especially when blackmailing him in "Lockup."
10). She twice fell for obvious traps in "Let Me Stand Next to Your Fire." Fortunately, Daisy set the first, and the Watchdogs who set the second were completely incompetent.
11). She did not notify Talbot about the LMDs and the Framework in "Self Control." Any person worthy of the position she held (SADiST) would have done so, which would have saved a lot of trouble at the end of the fourth season. Until "The Return," I assumed that she had done so and that it was not shown because it was such an obvious thing to do.
12). She failed to understand her surroundings in "What If."
13). She created a big mess when she went after Alastair Fitz in "Farewell, Cruel World!" This is even worse when she nearly got herself killed by an unarmed man when she had a gun.
14). In "World's End," when Fitz was torn with guilt about the deaths that he caused, she goaded him to plan another death.

Lance Hunter
The Good:
1). He is very good at seeing what other people overlook.
2). Despite claiming to be just a mercenary, he can be quite loyal.
Best Moments:
1). He sided with Coulson during the Real S.H.I.E.L.D. coup.
2). He rescued Morse in "S.O.S. Part Two."
3). He did a good job in infiltrating Hydra early in the third season.
4). He may not have killed Ward in "Devils You Know" (see below), but he forced Ward to abandon his base and his weaponry.
5). He was willing to be disavowed to protect S.H.I.E.L.D. in "Parting Shots."
The Bad:
1). He has a tendency to complain about Morse without acknowledging the likelihood that he probably shares some of the blame.
2). He likes the abomination known as Hawaiian pizza.
Worst Moments:
1). He attacked Fitz for protecting Daisy in "Who You Really Are."
2). He and Coulson stole an SUV they easily could have bought in "Afterlife." I should have included this among Coulson's worst moments.
3). He failed to kill Ward in "Devils You Know."
4). He kidnapped Banks in "Among us Hide" when he, Daisy, and Mack thought that Banks was Lash.


Barbara "Bobbi" Morse
The Good:
1). Like Mack, she can be a good protector.
Best Moments:
1). She rescued Simmons in "A Hen in the Wolf House."
2). She got valuable information from Bakshi in "The Things we Bury."
3). She took the bullet meant for Hunter in "S.O.S. Part Two."
4). She covered for Fitz as he sought out clues about Simmons's possible whereabouts.
5). She successfully discovered valuable information about the ATCU in "Many Heads, One Tale."
6). She killed the shadow general and was willing to be disavowed to protect S.H.I.E.L.D. in "Parting Shots."
The Bad:
1). Her loyalty can be blind.
2). There may be some truth in Hunter's complaints about her.
Worst Moments:
1). She attacked Fitz for protecting Daisy in "Who You Really Are."
2). She was a leader of the Real S.H.I.E.L.D. conspiracy.
3). The FitzSimmons heist of Fury's toolbox happened under her watch in "Afterlife."
4). She put biological samples in a clear bag instead of a blue bag in "Devils You Know." After all, everyone knows that "blue" starts with "B," which stands for "biological..."


Lincoln Campbell
The Good:
1). He has a good heart.
Best Moments:
1). He did a good job at helping Daisy become accustomed to her powers, even if "I thought you knew." was his catchphrase.
2). He realized that Jiaying was really a villain sooner than nearly any other Inhuman except for Raina and Daisy.
3). He did a good job in evading the ATCU, particularly in "A Wanted (In)Human."
4). He got good information from James in "Paradise Lost."
5). He captured Malick in "The Team."
6). He successfully carried out May's scheme to sic Lash on Hive in "Emancipation."
7). He sacrificed himself to save the woman he loved (and the world) in "Ascension."
The Bad:
1). He had a temper and has a tendency to act before thinking.
2). He became a bit obsessed with Daisy.
3). He was a bit wishy-washy about being part of S.H.I.E.L.D.
4). He never saw the original Terminator.
Worst Moments:
1). He accidentally killed his friend while on the run from the ATCU.
2). He failed to note the title of the episode and used himself as a test subject on a dangerous treatment in "Failed Experiments."


Holden Radcliffe
The Good:
1). He is capable of amazing work.
Best Moments:
1). He saved May's life in "Uprising."
2). He planted an LMD of himself to cover his tracks in "Wake Up."
3). He successfully recovered the Darkhold in "Hot Potato Soup."
4). He planted four LMDs in S.H.I.E.L.D. in "The Man behind the Shield."
5). He gave valuable information to Simmons and Daisy in "Identity and Change" and "No Regrets."
6). He saved Simmons from Fitz and Fitz from himself in "Farewell, Cruel World!"
7). He saved Elena from a Hydra mook and helped her save Mack in "World's End."
The Bad:
1). He was a stereotypical "mad scientist."
Worst Moments:
1). He was fairly quick to try to please Hive toward the end of the third season.
2). His creations tend not to work as planned:

• The Alpha Primitives were, by his own admission, below his standards.
  
• The Framework became a prison.
• His LMD ended up killing him.

3). He defected to Senator Nadeer in "Wake Up."
4). He let himself be outsmarted by his own LMD in "Self Control." Of course, he might be proud to have created an LMD capable of outsmarting him.

I will do some recurring characters in a couple of days.

That was a continuity error on the writers' part for sure. When I write my stories, I often re-read the past written chapters before starting a new chapter to try to avoid these kinds of issues. The writers of this show need to do that or rewatch previous episodes to refresh their memories.


Another good thing on Mack: he didn't say anything against Fitz in the season finale. I was afraid he was going to take out the whole Hope thing on Fitz. I was very pleasantly surprised when he kept his mouth shut lol.
