Nelsan Ellis was most famous for playing Layfette on HBO's True Blood. He recently had a recurring role on CBS's Elementary. He passed away this weekend at the age of thirty-nine (heart problems). Very sad news. Condolences to his family, friends and fans.

This one really upset me when I heard the news. The guy was such a great actor and his performance on True Blood will always remain one of the most memorable things of that show. I also really enjoyed him in "The Help" as well as - just so recently that it feels crazy to think he's dead - the latest season of Elementary where he got to shine once again in an extremely layered role.

I'm sure he'd have a great career in front of him and I really wish life wasn't as unfair as it sometimes is. Thirty-nine is no age to die, period!
