Jemma Simmons , I don't know if I am just being profoundly stupid, or the the site hiccuped. I am gonna tag 3 of you here, and see if it works. And yes, DoTheMath , the links are no longer colored. This is not the issue here, though. I still have not figured out why my recent Jethro Tull post in this thread did not tag ayanami . The way my post shows up to me shows the @ symbol attached to ayanami, just as I typed it, rather than turning it into a link(tag) and having the @ disappear. If you three (Jem, DTM, and Nami) get this post as a notification that you were tagged, please let me know. Also, what do you see when you look at the Tull post? Anyone else is welcome to test as well, I just tagged these 3 because we talked about it in the shoutbox.

and that is just completely weird now. All three of you appear tagged in the above post. It is typed the exact same way. @(no-space)ayanami.

One suggestion I have if it seems like coding is going wonky, in whatever post you're typing or trying to fix, click on the "BBCode" tab at the bottom of the text box (normally the default is to be in the "preview" tab). Sometimes that might show where the code is going screwy. For example, in your Tull post that you mentioned, I clicked 'quote' and then popped over to that BBCode tab to see how your post was formatted and this is what it shows me (obviously, the quote tags are due to me 'quoting' you): [quote source="/post/6556/thread" author="@beren44" timestamp="1496359254"]Well I can't say I was really surprised, but last night's Jethro Tull concert was just superb :D And @@ayanami , they even closed the show with 'Locomotive Breath'! :D

[/quote]Note that it has a double "@" for ayanami instead of just the one. That's why an @ symbol is still showing up within the post itself, 1 of the @'s is properly tagging the name, the other (since it's an extra) stands (essentially) on it's own (if that makes sense) |

to everyone: Nillindeiel had the answer to the puzzle. Thanks! I guess I was being a bit stupid though, not checking the BBCode. Still sort of strange that when I go back to edit it, the double@ does not show up in the original post, [in the 'edit' box, not the 'BB' box]. I too was thinking it was just a hiccup when the facelift took place..I also got bumped offline momentarily when that all happened. Thanks for the help and responses! Live and learn  |
