So I'm watching GotG on FX (again) and I get to the scene where Quill tells the team he's got 12 percent of a plan. Then I think: Didn't Tony give Piper 12 percent of the credit leading her to later say she was having 12 percent of a moment?
I wonder if that was coincidence or intentional.......

Lately, I've been wondering........ just what galaxy do they guard? Perhaps today it's a galaxy far, far away.

There's a quote somewhere from Gunn where he was asked whether Peter's 12% was an intentional nod to the 12% in Avengers and he said not really and that 12 is actually used a lot in comedic writing because it's the largest one syllable number. That said, 12 does appear to pop up quite a bit in the MCU (for example, Pietro mentions, in Age of Ultron, that he's 12 minutes older than Wanda. The airport battle in Civil War was 6 vs 6, I'm pretty sure it's popped up on some of the tv shows in some key conversations - though I'd have to go back and double check that)

In the first Avengers movie Banner asks Romanov if Fury wants him to swallow the Tesseract........ Has anyone ever pondered what would happen if he did swallow it?

So all this crap bout Real SHIELD vs SHIELD on that other thread got me thinking (dangerous, I know)....... but I was thinking how stupid Real SHIELD's "board" was and then it dawned on me that their bureaucracy is just a watered down version of the bureaucracy required for the Sokovia Accords. I wonder if Marvel/the Russos will address the idiocy of that bureaucracy when Thanos comes to town? How will they react when the Milano lands? Will the world still need decision by committee? Will the Avengers wait for them or just do what they do? I hope it's addressed in the movie.........

I most respectfully resubmit, and I really mean that, I am NOT trying to flame a war here, good lord, I love this website more than any other place I visit on the internet!. Yet I really, truly, don't understand, how you consider Gonzales's team to be such traitors. In the best interest of everyone, I will lay the dog down to rest, after all we are discussing fictional characters..it is almost comical how all of us can get so attached! If you care to continue the discussion, my private message thread is available.

I previously, sarcastically, posited the question: "just what galaxy do they guard?"; and as I was thinking of another off-the-wall "thing", this question came up again.....
Just watched Avengers: AoU, and at the end Thor says the mind stone is the fourth Infinity Stone to show up recently. Now we know that, by the time he said that, three of them were seen on Earth: Reality, Mind and Space. The fourth shown in the MCU was the Power Stone in GotG. I let this enter my brain then let my brain go walk-about and came up with:
How did Thor know about the Power Stone? How far reaching is Asgaard's knowledge of the universe? Although I don't specifically remember it being stated in the MCU, it's my understanding that the Nine Realms are in the Milky Way. Does that mean that GotG takes place in the Milky Way and that is the galaxy they are guardians of? Would that mean that all of the aliens we've seen in the MCU are from the Milky Way or are some of them intergalactic travelers? It just seems like they (Marvel) aren't giving us much in the way of continuity in this area. The Collector and his brother, are Elders in the comics but are hinted at as being Celestials in the MCU, as was Ego. Celestials are "of the universe" as are the Infinity Stones.
So, again, how far reaching is Asgaard's knowledge? What galaxy do the Guardians, guard? How much of what we've seen so far is galactic and how much is universal?
Important to note that I've seen all movies up to Dr. Strange (I've yet to see Ragnarok).
If anyone actually replies with answers please differentiate between comics canon and MCU canon.
Gracias

How did Thor know about the Power Stone? I believe the generally accepted answer at the time was that A) Thor saw four in his vision and B) given that Sif delivered the Aether to the Collector after Thor 2 it would seem that Asgard at the very least knows what the Collector is up to (mostly). Heimdall would certainly be likely to have "seen" when the Power Stone was used as well.
