I'll admit right away that I have not seen the original.
That said, I've seen a lot of facepalming and groaning about the remake and I was wondering what you all think.
Rest assured though, if I do watch 'Dirty Dancing' it will be the original.

I've seen(and love) the original. It baffles me that those in charge insist on remaking already incredible works that they can't really improve on. I personally would rather see more original work.

Not to completely dis-rail this thread, but I know what you mean. I have seen SO many people online give praise to 'Disturbed' 's version of Simon and Garfunkel's "Sound of Silence". Yet it is just impossible to improve upon perfection. So, in their honor, some things just don't need to be re-done...

Certainly not the first time. Last year saw remakes of Ben-Hur and The Magnificent Seven, a few years ago they tried to remake Robocop and I heard they failed miserably. I like the philosophy that remakes should be reserved for movies that weren't done correctly before rather than the ones that were. And not exactly a remake, but I still prefer Greedo shooting first.
