That link tells me "not available", but I found the trailer directly over on youtube. Holy sh#t, that looks incredible! No wonder Sonequa Martin-Green left the Walking Dead for this. Oh, wow! I never really warmed up to the general vibe of Enterprise, but while this is yet another prequel to all the original shows, I think I'm gonna like Discovery much more. Here's hoping the show is gonna hold up to that first impression!

James Frain as a Vulcan. The alien dude who said his purpose is to sense death looks familiar, but hard to be certain with all the fx makeup. Don't think I know any of the others it showed. Don't watch TWD, so not sure to which woman you were referring being from that show.

It looks interesting enough but it doesn't exactly look like "ten years before the original series" - more like "ten years before the reboot".
As with the Enterprise (Captain Archer) TV series, I'm disappointed that they didn't go for a full-on retro look. There are plenty of fan projects on youtube that look more like Star Trek to me, and I'd enjoy watching another professionally-mounted one like the DS9 tribbles episode.

I've decided not to judge *anything* about 'Discovery' until I see the finished product.
However, if i didn't make that decision I'd be looking at this trailer with squinted eyes...

I'm with ayanami. It looks awesome. I like Trek but I'm by no means a Trekkie and definitely not an aficionado; so continuity issues don't bother me. If it's 10 yrs before reboot, I'm good with that because the reboot is where the franchise is NOW and this should fit in nicely with that. Besides, even if it's "bad Trek", it looks like it'll be a good sci-fi space opera. Sucks that it'll be on All Access, though. Because of that, I won't be seeing it for a long time.....

I am looking forward to Discovery. It looks much better than Enterprise was, and I have missed having new Star Trek of any kind to watch.

To clarify, "ten years before reboot movie" is just my take from the initial look at the visuals. The early buzz was that it was a return to the original continuity.
(In all fairness, time travel is such a major component of all versions of Star Trek that it would be silly to be too dogmatic on the issue. The Star Trek universe shown in the reboot movies certainly isn't the result of one simple time travel event - the differences are too profound for that - but there are multiple in-universe explanations including the 'temporal cold war'.)

Yep, that decision to put it on a streaming platform was just about the dumbest idea ever. I'm hoping they'll release it for purchase and download on Amazon Video. Otherwise, it's an extra stupid idea.

Lol, I just realised that for most countries except the US and Canada, the show will also be available on Netflix within 24 hours of original release! Nice!!!
