Someone mentioned Tomb Raider the other day. I've played two of them, a 3PS, Underworld, and a top-down, Guardian of Light. Both were decent. Any input on the others? Who has played them? I still have a bit of gift card money left at Amazon...

Think it was me that mentioned it in the 1st person vs 3rd person thread. I've played most of the original PC games with the exception of the very very first one. But I've played TRII, TRII: The Golden Mask, TRIII, TR The Last Revelation, TR Chronicles (which was the last game in the 'old style'). I did play TR Angel of Darkness (which is where they made the initial steps to make some things more realistic... It does continue the storyline though from the end of the 'old style' games), but there were a lot of mechanics in that game that were annoying (a grip meter was introduced, she had to build up speed to go into run mode instead of just running right from the first step (was a bit clunky), think they got rid of the unlimited ammo on the basic pistols) - you also got to play as a different character for a few parts in the game, and while the idea of that I don't think was terrible (would've been nice to see a spin off for him), his movement mechanics were even more clunky than Lara's
as for the more modern games, we got the anniversary game for the Wii and have played it. Also got Underworld but haven't made it through that one yet. Got a couple of the more recent games on the xbox but haven't really touched them yet (assassins creed has been taking up most of my game play time)

I remember playing the second game for a bit on my brother's PS back in the day. I actually have the collection that includes all the games until (and including) the re-boot Tomb Raider, but of course I've never even played them. I started the first for a bit, but the whole graphics and mechanics were just too outdated, even for my tolerance level. But I'll give it another shot eventually.
I'm really curious how the new movie with Alicia Vikander is going to turn out. I like the actress, but so far I still can't see her in the role, not even the re-boot version.
