I'm not a fan of 1st person games. Like, not. at. all! Especially when it's a game that puts a lot of focus on your character, probably even lets you customise it. Seriously, what's the point of spending an hour in the character editor, when the game's first move is to put you into 1st person view, where you can't see anything more than your hands? (Looking at you Elder's Scroll series!) Luckily at least most rpgs offer at least the option to switch to 3rd person view if it's not the standard mode already.
Even in shooters in can't stand first person. In third person view my aim is better, my orientation is better, and again, at least I get to look at the character I'm playing as. Put me in first person and I might as well just be playing as Doom Guy in everything!
I've actually become interested in maybe checking out Overwatch lately, but I just found out that the game only allows first person view. Like, what the hell?! This game is all about the characters; they've even made animated movies about them. Plus, apparently one of the main "goals" in the game is to win (or buy) additional visual customisations for your characters. That you can't even see while playing!!! Are people insane?? *ugh*

I don't mind FPShooter games per say, actually I am probably a better aim with them...especially if there is a sniper rifle with a good scope involved That is the way I learned to deer hunt, on wide open ranches, big 'box canyons', hopping out of the truck and taking 300-400 yd shots at a running target..not nearly the same thing as sitting in a blind and waiting for a poor victim to come up and feed on the bait you put out below you. However, I won't deny, the venison tastes just as good either way you go. If you've never had venison/pork tamales, you are missing a bit of life And give me a good sniper rifle in a video game any day. I'll cover your ass while you creep up on the enemy

I guess at least in online games the other players can see your character; anyone who played Morrowind etc. in first person view after actually customising their character first should re-consider their life choices imo! Oh, and I love sniping, too. Geth infiltrator with the javelin is one of my absolute go-to builds in the ME3 mp. Total glass canon, but so powerful it's insane!

There's a couple of games that I've liked that are 1st person. Namely Deus Ex (the original computer game, I haven't played any of the sequels), as well as the two No One Lives Forever games (particularly the 2nd one, NOLF 2: A Spy in H.A.R.M.'s Way, I still replay that one more than I replay the first game)
But yeah, majority of games that I've played growing up have been more 3rd person view games (the original Prince of Persia computer game(s), the original series of Tomb Raider games, or the top down views of StarCraft and WarCraft, etc...)
And now, playing through the Assassin's Creed games, or your various Mario Games on the Wii, variety of Lego video games, etc...

I've never been a fan of 1st person games either! I find navigation to be more challenging in them.
