Tip to authors (or aspiring authors): Not everyone is going to like your story(s)... such is the nature of the world and people having different opinions. Get a negative review? Shrug it off and say "oh well" or maybe even see if there are areas of your writing that you might be able to improve... What you should not do, however, is what Anil John author of "The Revelation" apparently did on Goodreads where after he received a negative review from reviewer "Farith", he proceeded to threaten Farith (and his family) with Black Magic/a curse if he didn't remove his negative review and rating of the book: www.goodreads.com/review/show/1830010599 (scroll down to "Update: 4/25" to learn how this played out complete with screenshots of Anil's messages to Farith) Suffice it to say, the rating of his book has since tanked

They ended up getting my friend harassed (by shaming him on another social media site and) to the point my friend had to deactivate his Google account and change email passwords and close other accounts of his which had the same name he used on YouTube. Luckily, he did get these guys banned from uploading anything on YouTube. This was more than five years ago. To this day, my friend has no idea how his one comment caused him so much trouble because it was a G rated statement that actually used clear and concise wording and gave a reason for why he didn't like DS9. He figures the group just had such loyal fans that they took his comment personally.

Its just incredible how some people on the 'net behave, although its usually behind the wall of anonymity. For a published author to do that is just beyond stupid.
When I read some of the comments below some YouTube posts, I just shake my head. Its even worse that IMDb was.
Glad some sort of justice was served, in both your stories.

Glad some sort of justice was served, in both your stories. My sister and I were talking and it looks like he's 'self published'. Now, self-publishing isn't necessarily inherently a bad thing, there are some gems among self-published books, but there's also a lot of slush out there as well. Indeed, with how he behaves to negative reviews, it's not surprising he isn't published through a publishing house (probably would have a hard time getting an agent too).

That's crazy the way that guy threatened the reviewer. Sounds like that author may have some mental health issues (or at the very least needs an anger management class).
And yeah, you tube is not any better than imdb in terms of comments. There's this one song I watched the video of on there. Alyssa Lies, I think it was called. The singer was talking about his daughter telling him that her friend was being abused. The song mentions God/Jesus. The comments under the video were just beyond the beyond. The argument that erupted between some atheists and some who were religious were crazy. There were even threats and very nasty insults (on both sides). I think there might have been some even worse comments that I never saw. If I recall, there were a lot of deleted posts.

I'm going to assume it was a stupid person that did this - although *how* they did it?!?! (if it somehow wasn't than don't count this so much as a stupid people doing stupid things, but a stupid thing that makes you go "wait...what?!?") I know exactly which intersection this is and that turn light is definitely NOT supposed to look like that (it's supposed to be a left turn arrow): If for some reason the embed doesn't work, ** here's a direct link to the facebook post**

It's just carelessness rather than intent. There's a regular lightbulb behind the arrow and the arrow is a round green piece of glass with an opaque piece in between that has the arrow shape cutout. Most likely the bulb had to be replaced and when the worker put it back it got rotated somewhat.

So it was a stupid person doing a stupid thing (what's really scary to think of is how long was the light that way before someone finally reported it? With the way Utah drivers are... it could have been quite a while)

Going by everything I've learned on the internet, "Florida man" is basically shorthand for a stupid person doing a stupid thing! So, yeah, the video didn't disappoint.

I'm going to go ahead and throw this one in the Stupid People thread because I honestly don't get how she didn't realize each time that she put a new contact in that she hadn't even taken the ones from the previous day (or whatever) out. I mean, I've worn contacts for almost 20 years. Just taking a short nap on the couch with them still in is enough for me to fully feel that they are still in when I wake up (I can't imagine what sleeping in them a whole night would be like in the morning... I have yet to do that and hope I never do). I mean this is just.... Linky Link: Surgeon finds 27 contact lenses in woman’s eye

nillindeiel I would say that fits well into this category, only because there is not a category for 'beyond stupid people doing beyond stupid things'! I wore extended-wear contacts for about 25 years, and often slept in them for a week or more at a time. I paid the price a couple of times for it, too...finally gave it up and went for LASIK. What I really don't understand is, how did she ever think her vision was being corrected? Even regardless of the obvious discomfort that must have followed! This story is insane, yet it appears to be legit, considering the local news station website from which it originated, and the NBC news tag included..just WOW, how can someone do that??? she must have looked like this--->

Even the hydra clear oaysis ones. On another note, it took me a bit to figure out that was Bucky in that clip you posted. Seeing him with the shorter hair tends to throw me off sometimes lol.

Since we're still on the subject of people doing stupid things with their eye health, it also reminds me when I was working as a receptionist for an optometrist: girl who was at some concert (with some local rock band) and let one of the musicians (get this) lick her eyeball. She was then oh so shocked when she went to her optometrist complaining of problems and found out she had a nasty eye infection

Did she not have any friends with her that could say, "girl, don't do that, you don't know where that tongue has been"?
