Inspired by the racking of my brains I had to do for caseyrook's 10 favourite films thread, it occurred to me that there were quite a few films which I'd never had the opportunity to see in the first place.
I think my most sought film at the moment is Murder At Site 3 (1958). Hammer Films now claim it as part of their legacy although you won't find it in many reference books on Hammer and as far as availability goes, it may as well be lost like the very first Hammer film The Public Life of Henry the Ninth (1935). Murder At Site 3 is of additional interest as featuring detective Sexton Blake, once almost as popular as Sherlock Holmes.

Jane Fonda's 1965 comedy western Cat Ballou inspired two TV movie pilots, bizarrely aired by NBC on consecutive days, neither picked up, and both apparently completely unavailable today.
Beware IMDb links below, for anybody boycotting that site of ill repute but there's very little information on these two. Cat Ballou (1971, Director: Jerry Paris. Writer: Aaron Ruben) Lesley Ann Warren as Cat Ballou, Jack Elam as Kid Sheleen
Cat Ballou (1971, Director: Bob Claver. Writer: William Blinn) Jo Ann Harris as Cat Ballou, Forrest Tucker as Kid Sheleen

Mel Brooks' History of the World, Part 2 Serenity 2
Yeah, my list of films I'd like to see goes more in that direction as well. I can't think of any movie I'd like to see that's simply not available due to age and/or obscurity. For me it's just those that were never made in the first place. Prince of Persia 2 An Assassin's Creed movie that actually does justice to the incredible franchise

I, Robot and the Foundation series from Isaac Asimov The Hobbit (major letdown after the LOTR trilogy) Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Dune A couple never made movies I forgot: ChuckLeverageA couple of shows that I wouldn't mind making the jump from small screen to big screen, kind of like Star Trek did. But past movies, I think I've seen the ones I want to. There's probably ones out there I don't know about that I'd want to see if I did know about them.

All the films I want to see but haven't (and aren't coming out eventually) are made for TV movies that I read about on the site that shall not be named after reading actors filmographies. One memorable one is 'Kingfish: The Story of Huey P. Long' which I've read has an outstanding performance by John Goodman playing the title role. It hasn't even come out on really crappy quality DVD.

There are a few rare movie sites that offer Kingfish on DVD. It isn't on any that I've used before so I don't know how trustworthy they are, but at least one looks reliable to me. You'll find them quickly enough with Google if you did want to go down that route. It was officially released on VHS so their copies will be bootleg transfers of that version.
(I've bought scarce movies on VHS before, when the itch to see them has got too strong to resist - Meg Tilly's Carmilla, Legend of Hillbilly John - but they've all turned up in digital form eventually)

I did find a few places that had Kingfish on DVD but the reviews on the companies were so bad, they made it seem like they were made from ripped VCR recordings. When I said it hadn't even came out on crappy quality DVD, I should have specified, 'from a trustable source'. Believe it or not, I did buy a made for TV movie off a suspect website. Instant regret. Quality sucked big time and sound had to be in the 90's to hear clearly (also, no closed captioning or subtitles).
