Actually I think it would have been better (funnier?) if they used BW after what he said about her in Nothing Personal (but VH is a good 2nd).

Star Wars didn't change my life, but the special effects gave me A New Hope!

I think BW would be too young, though. She is around Ward's age, and he was a teenager at the time. That would have been weird...

Took a quick look. Johansson is a year younger than Dalton, Smulders is a year older, but Burrows is about 10 years older. I estimate Peggy Carter would have been around 90 when Ward was recruited.
Sitwell would have been another possibility, but they probably wanted someone who didn't turn out to be HYDRA.

I would like to know as well. But since so much has changed anything could have changed this part in history as well.

That my friend is a scene written by a writer who writes while laughing maniacally at their own in-joke.

It's also hilarious.

I can almost imagine the many takes it took to film that scene between 2 hysterical actors.

I think Garret is non-existent in this reality.

If the FW reality is basically the same except for what was changed by taking one regret, then there is no reason for him. His whole reason for existing in S1 was moving the "How the hell is Coulson alive?" story along to save his own skin.

Coulson never died in the FW, so Garret isn't needed.

Or, AIDA just deleted Garrett's existence on the off chance his interactions with any member of the team would possibly 'wake them up'.
