I'm going to start with the piano man himself, Billy Joel. One YouTube commenter accurately described him as "an insanely good piano player."

There's another guy named Billy whose piano playing I've always loved, and that's Billy Powell, the piano player for Lynyrd Skynyrd.
The incredible beauty of his playing in the interlude of "Tuesday's Gone" blows me away.

A lot of people, and I'm one of them, think Valentina Lisitsa is the greatest living pianist.

Only thing I'd have done different starting this thread is I woulda put Billy Powell up first. RIP BP
Keeping it in the Southern Genre:
Bill Payne
An oldie:
And a goodie:
Saw Little Feat 3 times. Once with Lowell George and twice in the 90's. Best live band I ever saw (and I saw a lot of bands live).

Never heard of Little Feat. I expect I'll be loading some of their music to my iPod.

Their older stuff is a lot of fun. Can't give them a strong enough recommendation. Don't forget to try the band i listed on the guitarist thread: Bloodline. It's a "one-off" but it's incredible from beginning to end.

For ragtime, there's none better than Squeek Steele. She's been described as a bolt of lightning in a black dress.
