Without the name on the hull, I don't think I would even recognise the second one. The USS Enterprise NCC-1701-D represents seven years worth of awesome stories and characters; the Enterprise "E" is just high-gloss updated version, but without the same meaning to it. I can get the thought that it's prettier, but not how it can be anyone's favourite.

I can get the thought that it's prettier, but not how it can be anyone's favourite. It isn't a choice but if I had to pick my favorite of all the ships named Enterprise, I'd definitely choose the NX-01. I like its shape, its size, its interior, and the fact that aside from the warp engine and transporter, it's the most realistic to us. In fact, if you see the interior of the ISS it doesn't look that far off from the NX-01 in some ways (or vice versa).
