I was wondering how many of our members play musical instruments. I have a digital piano and a banjo. I'm not very good at either one of them, but I sure love playing them.

I took piano lessons growing up (stopped taking them when I was 13-14 or so). I'll still sit down and play every now and then... I do so-so at site reading, but put too many sharps or flats in and I'll probably give up rather than plug away at it.
Played flute in Jr. High and High School, haven't really picked it up much since (I think the last time was at my maternal grandmother's funeral which was.... sheesh, 17 years ago now.)

I took piano lessons for about a year when I was 12 and walked away from it. I still played every now and then as long as I lived in a house that had a piano in it. That ended in my 20s. A couple of years ago, after 3 decades away from it, I bought a digital piano and a self teaching guide and went at it again. The banjo is a recent development. I bought it just before Christmas. If I ever needed anything to remind me that I'm not a naturally gifted musician, the banjo will do it. I'm slowly getting better at it.

I can play guitar a bit. Or I used to. Haven't in years. I also have an organ (electric).

I'd love to play a full blown organ. As it is, the pipe organ setting on my digital piano is one of my favorites.

My organ has settings to sound like different instruments, but I keep it on piano for the most part.

I've been a very avid guitarist/songwriter my whole life. Even spent a semester at a top-notch university as a jazz guitar major, and learned some keyboard because it was required. but truth be known, I partied waaaay to much. Ah,the 70s. Played cornet in jr high/high school, and got serious about music again around 1986, started practicing again, dabbled around on my then-wife's flute a bit, and not long after, bought a synthesizer/digital recording machine, and produced a home-studio CD in 1991. Just sold a drum kit I bought 10 yrs ago to pretend on, too! LOL Unfortunately, the muse comes and goes, and the last three years or so I've barely even picked up a guitar. Sometimes, life just gets in the way of your dreams. Though my musician buddies are starting to spark me back up, its frustrating how much you forget when you put it in the closet for very long. Long Live Rock-n-Roll, and THANKS to Jemma Simmons for this thread. I shall haunt it on a regular basis, and show just how old I really am. Classic Rock RULES.

I'd love to play a full blown organ. As it is, the pipe organ setting on my digital piano is one of my favorites. Back in my high school days, when the world was more innocent, there was a church in town that never locked its doors, and had a huge pipe organ. We used to ride our bicycles over there late at night, and play things like 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor', 'Innagoddadavida', (sp?) and Deep Purple's 'Smoke on the Water' and 'Lazy'. Its so fun to play on an instrument of that power and depth! My we were brats.

One of my little quirks is playing "Skip To My Lou" on the pipe organ setting. It surprises me how good it sounds.

The organ music in that comedy is to die for! It used to scare me to death as a kid!

Something I'd like to hear played live on one of those true pipe organs is the Overture from the Broadway Phantom of the Opera. In a bit of irony, the 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor' you mentioned was used as the theme for a couple of the PTO movies.
