And during most of its life it has been outflanked and infiltrated by both HYDRA and now Skrulls.
Will Marvel address this "issue"? Clearly Fury used and manipulated the Skrulls, but were the Skrulls also using and manipulating Fury the way HYDRA was using him, for their own gains?
Within the MCU:
Asgardians are on Midgard.
Skrulls are on Earth.
The Kree have been to Earth.
The Ravagers have been to Earth.
Celestials have pooped on Earth, so has Ego.
Frost Giants have been to Earth? ☑️

I thought the "secret" part of the invasion was that they've been here for a long time and it wasn't clear it was any kind of invasion until they had nearly won. But maybe I'm missing your point.

You got the point. If Fury knew the Skrulls were on Earth so did the USofA goverment. Project Pegasus was doing work and running a mission. Files were also kept so it was known. When Natasha dumped all of the files onto the internet in Winter Soldier some entity has to have had a way to keep that out of the dump. So HYDRA infiltrated SHIELD and the world goverments and the Skrulls infiltrated HYDRA or they didnt? Seems like a corner to me. |

So yeah either the dump of intel included the existence of Skrulls or it didn't. I suppose it could have included their existence only and not that they were still "among us" or in what numbers. Would Nat have selectively left those parts out? Or what that intel in a layer deeper than Nat had access to? How quickly did the intel Nat dropped get cleaned up? i.e. is it possible that some of the intel was scrubbed before it could spread? Maybe even by Skrulls? I would get a kick out of Talos ranting to Fury about his team having to scramble to remove/discredit some of the intel Nat dropped. Zemo mentioned that the files weren't just open documents anyone could read. I forget how he phrased it but essentially saying that he was the only one that had so far dug deep enough to track down the details of Howard and Maria Stark's deaths. So I think it's possible, likely even, that some interested party could have tried to undo parts of what Nat did. And of course Nat could have been selective about what she dumped out there, even though in the film she acts like she's sending all of it. But yeah, I wonder if they'll address it. |

I actually had to re-watch a bit of Captain Marvel because the whole Skrull/Kree timeline on Earth and Earth's knowledge of the Kree and the Skrull is very muddy. Carol Danvers and Mar Vell crash the lightspeed engine in 1989 which signals that the Kree or at least a Kree has been on Earth for a-while. Mar Vell has been able to work her way into the Project Pegasus program which had to take some covert effort to accomplish given the amount of money that was funded to the program and the design of the ship. Mar Vell could have been supplying Kree science/engineering to develop the Lightspeed but she did have plans written in Kree glyphs and were still in the archives. It would be my assumption that the Skrulls assisted Mar Vell in gaining her position within the US Government surreptitiously. The US Government probably knew that the Kree were here and had been here for a couple of years after the fact. A few Skrulls were hidden in Mar Vell's geo-positioned Lab above Earth and had been brought there by Mar Vell and I assume attracted by the Energy signature of the Tesseract. Mar Vell had to have a shuttle or ship that took her back and forth between her lab and Earth. That ship had to be still on Earth after Mar Vell is killed by Yon Rogg. I presume that Talos had been going back and forth between Earth and Mar Vell's lab for years after Mar Vell's death but apparently Talos and Mar Vell didn't meet. Talos leaves with Captain Marvel but within a very short period of time (maybe less than an Earth year), they're back but Captain Marvel doesn't come back. On top of that Fury immediately starts using the Skrulls for covert operations?? Last but not least Mar Vell's body (unless it was completely disintegrated during the lightspeed engine explosion) was still on Earth. We're going for complete disintegration of Mar-Vell for 1000 Alex. So Maria Rambeau knew about Skrulls/Kree since 1989-1995 and Flerkens.  Monica Rambeau, ditto. US Government, ditto. SHIELD, ditto. Talos had impersonated a SHIELD Agent Keller (what ever happened to the human Agent Keller that was impersonated)? So confusing!!  |
