I've been wondering about something.
Is there a correlation between the first ST show you watched and who you consider your favorite Captain?
I'm only asking because I've only been a ST fan for the last year. I never watched ST on TV only Netflix and Blu Ray.
The first episode of any Trek I watched was TNG'S 'The Inner Light' and I watched that because of an interview with Sir Patrick Stewart I listened too on the Nerdist Podcast.
I consider Picard to be my favorite Captain and I honestly wonder if that has to do with him being 'my first' since I had binged almost exclusively TNG for the first few months after joining the fandom.
I binged through TOS after that but, uh, I didn't find myself being very impressed with Kirk as much as you'd think...

I'm old enough to have seen Star Trek in its original run. And yes, Kirk is my favorite. I voted for Riker as my favorite First Officer, but's it's pretty much a tossup between him and Spock.

Like bigvanray I was around for TOS; however, Picard is my favorite, toss up between Janeway and Kirk for second. Spock wins best first officer in my book. Scotty best engineer. Best med officer is a tie with Bones and the holo-doc from Voyager (I like me some snark from my med officers).
