Saw it last night. A decent entry in the series for sure and somewhat wraps up a GOTG trilogy.
I have many small gripes but nothing that really took away from enjoying it. Figured it's 2023 so I should post my gripes online like people do nowadays
I was expecting more characters to be killed off. All the rumors of various actors making this their last MCU film and all the emotional bits in the trailers etc. Plus even in film the entire story is trying to save Rocket and they even did the tropes of dying on the table and the one with "is this heaven? can I stay?" and then someone kindly says "it's not your time". Though I am glad that Rocket will be around as there's so much more they could do there IMO.
I was convinced going in that Drax was going to die. The trailers showed him "mortally" wounded and Dave Bautista was very vocal about this being his last film. But that looks like a red herring.
The other trailer shot of Peter being carried where it turned out he was drunk, not dead/hurt also felt like it was put in just for the diversion. Then later they "killed" him even adding in the new MCU science that people "blow up" when exposed to space. Only to save him anyway. I just feel that sort of thing is overused.
Love the look of the next generation of GOTG and hope it can also lead to Nova which would be great.
I didn't really love the "dumb Drax" bit and then somehow he happens to speak that random language. But again, nit-picking.
I thought they did justice to the High Evolutionary storyline. Rocket's origin story was really good as well though I can see where some people were "triggered" by the animal cruelty etc.
Definitely lots of emotional moments in the film as one would expect with GOTG.
I'm really glad they didn't have Gamora just magically fall in love with Peter to go back to "normal".
