I just watched the new movie/ remake of the 80s movie. I was unimpressed. If you have Peacock, they’re streaming for free. Otherwise, I don’t recommend spending the $$ on it at the theatre. I don’t do well with violence against animals. I’m also very much a cat person. There’s a scene towards the beginning of the movie I found especially upsetting. It is a character development thing and relevant to some things at the end of the movie, but I still found it pretty upsetting.

Good to know. As much as I love SK, many of the projects that spawn from his books are avoidable.

I know that someone is going to call me "woke" or a "snowflake" or an "SJW" for saying this, but I have a strong moral opposition to bad films. In fact, I regularly boycott films that get 11-13% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes. There was no way that I was going to see Firestarter.
Last weekend, there were five films playing near me that I had not seen yet with Rotten Tomatoes scores over 85%: Happening, This Much I Know to Be True, The Duke, Vortex, and The Bad Guys. This is in addition to films that I had already seen like Petite Maman, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Northman, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Furthermore, there is a film about a weird doctor with a 74% rating that pushed a lot of other good films out of theaters. While I understand that I am lucky that I have a lot of theaters around me, I suspect that most people have better options to watch than Firestarter. I chose to watch Happening and Vortex instead.
