With Jemma Simmons and me finishing up Daredevil's third season tonight, the future of Sunday afternoon/night rewatches is once again wide open come next week. So, in order to maybe, perhabs, theoretically, get more people to join our regular and really fun rewatch sessions, I wanted to make this an open discussion for anyone who wants to chime in. Soooo... the big question on the table: What do we watch next Sunday?
Personally, I'm rather partial to basically anything I've already seen (which is quite a lot tbh), because I don't think I would be able to follow a show that's completely new to me while also maintaining a somewhat sensible conversation.
So, to start off with the obvious suggestions:
Netflix:
- The Punisher
- Jessica Jones (Expect a LOT of ranting about all the atrocious side characters! )
- Iron Fist (Well... it IS easy to make fun of!)
- Luke Cage (Please no. )
The other Marvel shows:
- Helstrom (Heck yeah!)
- Cloak and Dagger (Ranges from "easy to make fun of" to "Please, no!" depending on the episode.)
I haven't seen Runaways, so that's off the table for me. I have also heard rumours about a one-season Marvel show about people with similar crazy powers to Skye or Lincoln, but I can't for the life of me remember what it's called! Also, I think rewatching that would require amounts of alcohol that I am simply unwilling to consume.
We could also take a look at the other side of the comic-book-show-coin and check out some of the DC stuff. However, I would skip the obvious picks here, like Arrow or The Flash, simply because of the hugh amount of episodes each of those shows already put out and the time commitment that would come with that. Plus, well, a huge amount of those episodes consists mainly of trash. I should know, I watched all of them.
One could justify an excemption for Legends of Tomorrow, I guess. Fewer seasons, fewer episodes per season and well, imo it's just flat out better! Sure, S1 was a bit wonky at times, but overall it's easily my favourite Arrowverse show!
Aside from LoT, I would rather suggest some of the shorter running DC shows:
- Swamp Thing (Heck yeah!)
- Titans (Brutal, but fun.)
- Stargirl (Adorable and fun.)
- Krypton (Especially S1 had a lot of good stuff. Not the best DC show by a long shot, but I liked it.)
Or we could always turn away from the comic book genre and look at sci-fi or maybe even fantasy in general.
-Altered Carbon, to make just one suggestion here.
Otherwise I'm open for suggestions, obviously! So hit me!
Or, I guess we could always stop. That'd be cool, too.
