Greenish shouldn't happen, lol. Maybe a bad cable or port? Anyway, can't help you from here...
You're going to have to search (or contact the laptop manufacturer) to figure out how to connect your laptop to a TV. HDMI is a pretty flexible standard, you shouldn't be having these problems.

from what i remember the picture had some sort of greenish tone on the tv Hey!
Was it a full screen of green, or just tinted green?
I was talking with a friend of mine, and apparently, green over HDMI is a thing, lol. If the picture was solid green, it's some sort of handshake problem. Many times it can be fixed by unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable back in, or starting your devices in a certain order.
Most of the time (from what I'm told), it's just a cable problem, and you don't need to go as far as to unplug your devices as stated in this article...

I had some wierd sh!t happening between my desktop and 4K 42" TV. instead of green I was getting reds and pinks. Was able to correct it in settings but it happened every time I used my TV as a second monitor. Turns out my HDMI cable had a bad connector (thank God it wasn't a port). Replaced cable with an Amazon Basics HDMI cable and haven't had a problem since.........
