I really enjoyed the forth episode, as it finally gave us a peek behind the curtain of what the hell is actually going on on the show. But there was one thought that was basically going on a loop in my mind while I watched all these agents, and scientists and sci-fi gadgets appearing on my screen: IT SHOULD BE S.H.I.E.L.D. DOING THIS!!! Alas, we've all seen the story unfold. Marvel Studios and Marvel Television didn't get along, AoS ended up doing their own thing, eventually getting stupider by the year (with the ratings to match) and as far as the main MCU seems to be concerned, the end of S.H.I.E.L.D. might as well have come in TWS with the helicarrier in AoU being nothing but a last gasp in the organisation's death throes. Now instead we get S.W.O.R.D. handling the "weird stuff", with small characters from big movies in charge, and not a single mention of the people who should actually be there. Well, I guess I'm not surprised. Or if so, only about how much it actually pisses me off! AoS could have been so much more, but in the end Marvel basically threw them under the bus. And now, it seems, they're handing the keys to the kingdom to somebody else. www.cbr.com/wandavision-sword-spinoff-better-than-agents-shield/

There are reasons why this is SWORD and not SHIELD that are starting to pop up. And I think the writing of this show is so close to AoS that there must be some people involved that were part of the TV series we all love. Could be my rose-colored glasses, but I think the "TV vs. Film" thing gets blown out of proportion too much. They want fans to watch and enjoy what they create - I don't think they allow much infighting.

There are reasons why this is SWORD and not SHIELD that are starting to pop up. And I think the writing of this show is so close to AoS that there must be some people involved that were part of the TV series we all love. Here is the list of people who were in some way involved in both projects, according to imdb: www.imdb.com/search/name/?roles=tt2364582,tt9140560 There are 40 names, but while that sounds a lot, it's actually mostly stunt people, one or two actors with super minor roles and several producers that get credits in basically every Marvel project. Like, I'm not sure how large Stan Lee's direct contribution to AoS - or WandaVision for that matter - actually was! As to the writing being similar, well, it's Marvel. While I utterly love their stuff, let's be honest here. It is all VERY similar in tone and style! Well, there's not much infighting if you simply ignore the other side, is there? Also, wasn't the beef between Feige and Perlmutter kind of public knowledge? I never followed that much, so I don't remember any details, but as far as I know, they had very different approaches to their divisions and couldn't really stand each other, which obviously makes any collaboration difficult from the get go. Add to that the facts that the movies always got first pick regarding storylines and characters and that AoS's ratings were never really anything to write home about, and it's not hard to see why the latter basically became the MCU's stepchild. As to any in-story reasons why it's SWORD and not SHIELD dealing with this, well, I haven't seen episode 5 yet, so I don't know what might be yet to come. But in the onset it was the FBI going "can we please borrow a drone?" to get SWORD involved. Followed by a lot of tech mumbo jumbo. Sounds right up SHIELD's alley, if you ask me.

I know it's been pretty common in the fan world to assume that the films look down on TV, but I prefer to see it as one world. As a long-time Marvel fan before the films existed, having a fluid continuity comes easily. Plus, for me, I enjoy it all more if I fill in any blanks with my own head canon.
