That’s awesome! I saw that WW was doing this, but good to know they are also going to do this with other movies, too!

As a Canadian, this isn't really exciting since it seems like Crave (which picks up some HBO stuff) won't be part of this.
However I do agree with how someone put it this morning: "The pandemic basically just accelerated what was happening anyway (by a lot). I don't want to minimize the impact on people who work in movie theatres - this will hit hard - but theatres will adapt like all industries do and there are still huge numbers of people that will demand to see blockbusters or other films in a packed theatre with other fans and a huge screen."

As someone who use to work in the theater industry, it will suck for those who are ushers, concession workers, and projectionist. Execs will be fine, but the workers in the theaters themselves will be laid off or furloughed. I think the independent theaters and those owned by mom and pops will do fine since they have more control of theaters. I think that Rocky Horror Picture Show will always be on the big screen. But the AMCs, Regals, and the ArcLight Theaters will be the ones who will be thee most effected since those are big corp-runned theaters.

I'm definitely not trying minimize the impact on a lot of people. I actually do think there will be impact on execs too since many multi-plexes are too big for the future of the industry. So either many will close outright or big ones will close and the same chain will open a smaller one. (So maybe execs can tap-dance their way through that unscathed for the most part?) Anyway, I don't think this was caused by COVID as much as COVID accelerated things (by a lot).
