Enver Gjokaj has impressed me on his previous shows. In fact, I might go so far as to say that he has the potential to compete for being at least the best male actor on the show. I fear that he will win this competition by default because the other competitor cannot be bothered to show up.
Elena: Only Simmons cares that much about stuff like that.
It seems to me that Mack should have been more interested in S.H.I.E.L.D. tech as well. I also have this vague memory of someone else who used to get excited about technology. I am blanking on the name. I do not think that it is Piper or Snowflake or Benson or Diaz or Flint. Maybe I am just imagining someone.
More seriously, I noticed that, when Elena made that statement, Elizabeth Henstridge gave a facial expression suggesting that her character could think of someone else who cared that much about technology.
Lol, seriously, at this point one starts to wish for Simmons to pull a Daenerys Targaryen and go all:
"Sooner or later, humans will kill all the Aen Seidhe. All dwarves and gnomes. Then they'll start murdering one another. Your kind knows no other way. It's in your genes. You keep killing each other until only one remains. The strongest among you. A thousand years from now, a dim-witted human barbarian will climb to the top of a pile of bones, sit down and proclaim: "I win"."

Seriously! WHERE IS HE!? (I know the actor was filming something else at the time).
I just noticed that the thumbnail for episode 4 on imdb shows Coulson underwater in the pool from the end of the ep, basically spoiling the entire "twist" there. Great job, people, really great job!

And yes! Mack comes to his senses, and is going to save Sousa. A little subterfuge, and Coulson gets to say this line: Coulson: Turns out being an LMD has it's perks, like taking two in the back without a fuss. lol... I wonder if Jemma can fix Sousa's limp...
Just wanted to point out that it's more than a limp, he's actually missing a leg. Sounds more like a job for Fitz rather than Simmons to me!

So all we know for sure (I didn't watch the sneak peek for next week - that rhymes!) is that they're in 1972 OR LATER. As they were ending episode 4 I was wondering if someone (Coulson probably) would have a line for Sousa along the lines of "sometimes we find an oldies station first so we always check a few".
Even without seeing the promo for the next episode, I will assume that it will take place in the early 1970s and reference a genre like blacksploitation films, disaster films, or gritty urban dramas. However, it would be funny if the team dressed in 1970s era clothes, perhaps exaggerated, only to find that this time they did tune into an oldies station.

Yep, they should definitely check out a few stations first. Though I would absolutely appreciate some outfits along these lines:

You weren't far off. I'm loving what they're doing with the title sequences/intros and the nods to comic history. Those old SHIELD jumpsuits were awesome.
ayanami: Also, yes, Iain deserves constant praise, always! And for the Doctor in particular. Chilling role!

Jemma Simmons: Right? I always think the same thing when I see a movie that was adapted from source material but has been changed so much that it's unrecognizable.
Nov 24, 2024 23:08:46 GMT
ayanami: I gotta admit that "World War Z" is an incredibly cool name, but still, seems a bit pricey if you're just gonna ignore the whole rest of the novel.
Nov 24, 2024 23:10:42 GMT
ayanami: The book sounds really cool btw. It's about one guy 10 years after the zombie outbreak gathering different perspectives from a bunch of survivors, so you have like a dozen different stories/settings in the novel. Plus, the author is actually Mel Brooks'...
Nov 24, 2024 23:12:58 GMT
ayanami: ...son and apparently there's an audio book version of the novel featuring a bunch of Hollywood talents! (Gotta have connections in life! )
Nov 24, 2024 23:13:41 GMT
Jemma Simmons: What?! That's wild! I'll have to check into it!
Nov 24, 2024 23:14:18 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Sounds way more interesting than the movie, anyway!
Nov 24, 2024 23:14:32 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Oh, just FYI, next weekend is a holiday weekend here, so I won't be able to be around.
Nov 24, 2024 23:15:41 GMT
ayanami: Absolutely! Which makes it even more bewildering that they went with such a lame clichéd Hollywood story instead. Which, btw, is actually getting a sequel next year. Who'd have thunk it?!
Nov 24, 2024 23:17:08 GMT
ayanami: Ah, alright, thanks for the heads up.
Nov 24, 2024 23:18:07 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Yeah, that's something I've noticed lately too. Why the sudden need for sequels for 20-30 year old movies? Most of the time they're crap and I'd definitely rather see new material.
Nov 24, 2024 23:20:11 GMT
ayanami: I think I'm gotta call it a night now, though. I've got kind of an early morning coming up tomorrow and it's getting late over here.
Nov 24, 2024 23:20:18 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Alrighty! You have a good couple of weeks then! I'll be spending next weekend with some family I like and trying to avoid any remotely controversial conversations with others that I spend the rest of the year avoiding
Nov 24, 2024 23:21:10 GMT
ayanami: Tbf, World War Z is "only" from 2013, but yeah, I get your drift. Answer: Hollywood producers are all a bunch of chicken sh*ts, who only want to invest money into stuff with a recognisable name and a good track record, so only sequels, prequels and reboots
Nov 24, 2024 23:22:41 GMT
ayanami: From now until eternity!
Nov 24, 2024 23:22:53 GMT
Jemma Simmons: Heh, yeah that sounds about right!
Nov 24, 2024 23:23:16 GMT
Jemma Simmons: I will make an exception for the new Gladiator movie. I've heard it's actually pretty good!
Nov 24, 2024 23:23:33 GMT
ayanami: Yeah, I hope you have a fun few weeks and a nice family time. And don't choke on the turkey! I'll see you around, bosslady!
