No reason was given. Ruby generally thanks the cast/crew. More details here. My reaction...

Well, most of the viewers already quit, so... True. I heard rumors that she could not handle the workload that comes with a weekly episodic series like Batwoman series demanded and was kinda unpleasant during the filming of episodes. It was agreed with both parties (Ruby herself and the studio) that she steps away from the project.

Well, that is what the article says and honestly, I don't doubt it. Still, the show hasn't exactly been successful so far. Ratings aren't great and the reviews are even worse. 3.5/10 on imdb and an audience score of merely 13% on Rotten Tomatoes. Plus, I think that Ruby has been getting so much crap on twitter from the start that she actually disabled her account. So, I'm not saying this has been only the deciding factor, but I would guess that if a role is an insane amount of work, yet the main feedback you get is people hating on your character and/or performance, then it might not seem worth the effort to go on with it. In contrast, had Batwoman been an instant hit, and the character were widely beloved, then the emotional boost might have allowed Ruby to find a way to adjust better to the workload. Who knows.
