So..............................
I can barely believe no one has commented on this movie, yet. Star Wars Episode Nine and................................... silence?
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.
Was it perfect? No, of course not. They rarely are anymore.
Now, I'm NOT a fanatic, I'm a fan. I didn't read all the books and comics and or watch any of the animated shows, so my reaction is from the perspective of someone who has only seen the movies. That said, I think they did a great job of rounding out and finishing up the Skywalker saga.
Since The Force Awakens, I've always felt that Rey was "somebody", as in she was related to some powerful Jedi from past movies. I kind of hoped she was the long lost illegitimate child of Qui-Gon Jinn. I'll admit her parentage had me stumped until I saw Palpatine's conversation with Kylo Ben (my spidey sense started to kick in); and then, when she shot lightning out of her hand (and thought she killed Chewy), I knew who she was related to. They could have done a lot to screw up that part of the story, but I think they handled it pretty well. Her parentage was always on the fringe of importance during this three part arc of the saga and it paid off nicely. Kylo Ben had a rough road to hoe throughout the three movies but, in the end, he did, indeed, end up being just like his Granpappy. I'm also glad they showed that Luke DID train Leia. I felt it needed addressed and they did a good job of it without wasting too much screen time. Also.............. it looks like Luke finally learned that "size matters not".................. even in death (or was he in some kind of Jedi purgatory?)
I really enjoyed the entirely original take on the story of Daisy Poe..... er.......I mean.............. Damron Johnson................ um....... well............ you know who I mean................ I enjoyed the original, totally never used before, entirely unseen, take on a hot head learning to be a leader. It really balanced (screwed) things out (up)........... for me at least.
And what the hell's up with Finn? Rey? Rose? Phasma? Dammit dude, pick one and stick with her. Should have named him Pinn(ball).
Well, that's my initial take on it.
I liked it better than The Last Jedi, but not as much as The Force Awakens. Hmmmm... I wonder if that has anything to do with who directed each movie?
Looking forward to reading how yall felt about the movie.
Cheers
