AoS6_10 -- Leap.
Executive summary: Izel needs to die. A slow, painful, lingering and painful death. (Yeah, painful is in there twice. Didn't anyone see the recruitment scene in Blazing Saddles?)
The show opens with a shot of Sarge (almost a pun), with three bullet holes in his chest, and one in his head. Now, I know this is television, but three bullets to the chest will remove a large portion of Sarge's vital organs. For all the blood splatter on the walls in this show, they make this one the most unrealistic. But I digress.
Anyway, with an alarm going off and red lights flashing in the corridors, Sarge is being wheeled out of his former cell. Cut to Simmons and Fitz running down a corridor. Several turns later, Mack and Yo-Yo join them from another corridor.
Now, I don't think there were any camera/SFX tricks, but the uncut shot of them running down several corridors must mean the set is pretty big. It's a nice moving steady-cam shot...
They arrive at Sarge's cell. (Fitz and Simmons have not met Sarge.)
Simmons: My God. Coulson. Fitz: That is uncanny. Mack: That's not our guy, remember that. But do what you can, anyway. Simmons: Well keep you updated, director. Mack (to Diaz): Is she here? Diaz: Yeah. Won't talk to us, though. May: No need to ask, I did it. I shot him. Mack: Why? May: Because it had to be done.
Title card.
May is being put into a holding cell. Daisy is in the room.
Daisy: What the hell, May? (May is silent.) You're going to shoot a guy in holding, and then just go silent? Silenter... (lol) May: Do you even know what he is? Daisy: No. But I do know what he's capable of, he left our team and 100,000 innocents to die. I know that he's definitely not Coulson.... May: No, he's not. Daisy: That he deserved it. But I also know what you are, and vigilante is not on the list. The face... May: His face has nothing to do with it. Daisy: I know it rattles you. It messes with me to, but this is not what we do. This is extreme. May: It was time for extreme.
Outside the cell.
Mack: May's been out of sorts since he showed up, had him in her sights. Yo-Yo: She said she wanted to kill him. Mack: Well, can't blame her, but I still have to hold her accountable. I mean, this is... Did she crack? I don't understand. Yo-Yo: I understand wanted to prevent future suffering. She's done it before, and she's not the only one. Mack: I know. But this man was in custody. May was my right hand the past few months, I thought I was finally getting to know her. I'm going to look at the security footage. You let me know if anything here changes, okay?
Mack walks away, Piper walks up.
Piper: I just heard what happened. I don't believe it. Yo-Yo: No, I don't believe it either.
In the lab. Simmons is looking at Sarge. Fitz and two others walk in.
Fitz: Got them. Not that it'll make much difference at this point. Simmons (to others): Thank you. We'll take it from here. Fitz: Resemblance is disturbing. Is it freaking you out how much it looks like Coulson. Because it's freaking me out. Simmons: Well, that. But also this. (Puts oxygen/pulse sensor on Sarge's finger.) Fitz: Wait. He has a pulse? That is insane. He was shot four times, lost almost all of his blood. Why is it taking him so long to die? Simmons: No, you don't understand. He's getting stronger. He's coming back. Fitz: What is he... (I asked that question last week...)
Well, you know what they say, Jemma. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...
Sarge has a dream? Flashback? We can only see in silhouette. It is Sarge and a woman. They touch. Scene changes. They are back in the lab, Simmons is checking for movement in Sarge's iris with a flashlight.
Cut to Daisy, Yo-Yo and Piper outside of May's cell.
Yo-Yo: Did she give you an explanation? Daisy: Yeah, Sarge. Not a fan. Yo-Yo: Can't blame her. Piper: I mean, he did kidnap her. Daisy: And lock us in with a nuke. Yo-Yo: Killed agents in cold blood. Piper: And has Coulson's friggin face. I mean, that can't be easy for her. Daisy: The world is better off without him. Yo-Yo (shakes her head): But why a gun? May doesn't like guns. Daisy: She would beat him to a pulp in a heartbeat. Yo-Yo: And she'd enjoy it. Piper: It'd be fun to watch. Yo-Yo: But an unarmed man in a cell... Daisy: Even if you weren't a fan, you wouldn't... Piper: It's a duck in a barrel. It's not her thing. We've all trained with her. Yo-Yo: She wouldn't use a gun. Daisy: Okay. Piper, go check out May's quarters and see if there's anything out of place. I'll retrace her steps after we got back from Sarge's truck. Yo-Yo: And I'll talk to her. Daisy: Good. You've been spending a lot of time with her lately. Maybe she will talk to you.
The three split up. Yo-Yo walks into the cell.
Yo-Yo (to Diaz): Give us a minute. (Diaz exits.) May: Finally. Someone who knows something. You going to fill me in? Yo-Yo: May. May: Why am I locked up? Yo-Yo: What are you talking about? May: And how the hell did I get in here? Yo-Yo: You don't know? May: Know what, exactly? I remember leaving the party, and the next thing I know, I'm in holding. What's going on. Yo-Yo: You don't remember shooting Sarge? May: Doing what?
Piper is walking down a corridor. There are some noises.
Piper: Who's there?
She pulls her weapon. Then she turns, and fires three shots.
Commercial.
Deke: So they're moving Sarge's body down to the morgue? Fitz: Yeah. It was hard seeing that guy's face. I wasn't here when he... When the real Coulson died. Did you... Did you get a chance to know him? Deke: (sigh) Not as well as I would have liked. I left... Before it happened. I needed to go find my place in the new world, or that was my thinking. Fitz: You're a man out of time. And my double is in the ground. A guy with Coulson's face should throw me but... I can't explain us. I can't explain him. Deke: Have you tried? Fitz: Here. I'm trying to piece it all together. Coulson interacted with the monolith. Izel told us she was searching for the monoliths. And Sarge was chasing Izel. But, how are these two related? And how does she figure into it? Deke: Those are all good questions, but literally, anyone who could answer them is dead. Fitz: You spent some time with Sarge. Do you know anything about him? Deke: Not much. He's not very nice. Did a real number on my IPO. Fitz: Yeah, I heard. Deke: Well, you also probably heard that the company was pretty successful, too. Fitz: Yeah, is that why you started the company? To make money? Deke: I, I... No, it was for science. 'cause money isn't everything, and it's actually pretty terrible, really. Fitz: You know, scientific discovery depends on finance. You do need money. Deke: Yeah, well, it can also be a good thing. Like, see, in the future, we had these devices on our wrist with tokens, and that's not a great system. You know, probably had a lot to do with how I see materialism and the acquisition of goods, (Piper walks in.) and there's Piper! Let's talk to Piper! Piper: Gentlemen. Fitz: You hear about May? Piper: Yes. Did you notice anything off about her when we got back? Fitz: Nothing. She was normal, stoic, brooding, May. Deke: Till she wasn't. Fitz: What about you? Did you sense something's off? Piper: Not that I noticed. My guess is May is going to be just fine. Yeah, I'll ask around. Fitz (to Deke, in background): So if you can help me with this equipment, we can take some samples of Sarge's tissue.
Piper starts walking around the lab. She stops by a container that holds Shrike crystal samples and takes one...
Cut to holding cell.
May: It wasn't me. I'm telling you, I didn't pull that trigger. Yo-Yo: I'm telling you that you did, and you just confessed to it. (May looks... annoyed.) But you don't seem to remember. So what do you remember? May: Jaco took the bomb and blew the aircraft out of the sky. We got back to the lighthouse, had beer, whiskey, made toasts... Davis was hammered, You and Mack were about to have sex... (Yo-Yo looks.) You asked what I remembered. (HAhahaahaha...) I was pissed. But I didn't want to shoot Sarge, I wanted to sleep. Yo-Yo: Okay, then you went to your quarters. May: Yeah, I said goodnight and... Yo-Yo: What is it? May: My quarters. I don't think I ever got there. Yo-Yo: How far did you get? May: I uh.... got off the elevator... Yo-Yo: Did you see anyone? May: Just Davis, trying to get his... Huh.
Daisy is walking down a corridor. She sees blood on the floor and the wall.
Daisy: Diaz? (She is behind some barrels.) Who did this? Diaz: I don't... I don't know. I was guarding May a second ago, and then... this.
Simmons is overlooking Sarge. Mack comes in.
Mack: You call for me? Simmons: Thought you'd want to see this. Mack: Why are you hiding Sarge down here? Is he still hanging on? Simmons: You could say that. (presses button, vital signs come up. They're normal.) Mack: Well, I thought for sure he'd bleed out by now. All those wounds. (Simmons pulls back sheet over Sarge.) Simmons: What wounds? (There are no wounds.) They've all healed. Completely. Mack: That doesn't make any sense. Simmons: Oh. We expect things around here to make sense, now? Mack: What is he? Simmons: Fitz and I asked that exact same question. We're working on it. Mack: Well, you did the right thing hiding him down here 'till we know what's going on. In the mean time, I'm going to post a guard down here with you. Simmons: Absolutely not. The fewer people who know about Sarge, the better. Mack: I'm not going to leave you down here alone. If he's alive, he's dangerous. Simmons: With respect sir, I'll be fine. He's restrained. Mack: Well, I'm not going to take any chances. I fought him. I know how strong he is.
Sarge goes into another flashback. Everything is still in silhouette. He is hugging a woman.
Yo-Yo and Daisy are knocking on Davis' door. He answers.
Davis: Would you guys quit banging. Daisy: You wouldn't answer. Davis: Sleeping off the festivities, or trying to, with the pounding in my skull. (If he was inhabited by Izel, he wouldn't have remembered the festivities.) Yo-Yo: You don't look so good, Davis. Davis: Funny, I feel fantastic. Can't party like I used to, I guess. Thought I learned my lesson after the space puff incident of 2019... (HAhahaha...) Daisy: How many beers did you have last night? Davis: Do not recall. Daisy: Did you by any chance see May in the corridor? Davis: Oh, yeah. After I blacked out, she was the first thing I saw when I came to, so I was in bad shape. She was cool about it, sweet really. Yo-Yo: Melinda May was... Sweet? (To Daisy.) Is there a different meaning to that word? Davis: She said, it looked like I was having trouble, can't argue with that, and I had to go rest, and now that I hear that out loud, she's usually more... gruff Daisy: So you lost time too.
Piper is walking around with a crystal in a beaker. The crystal points to a door. Deke arrives.
Deke: Piper. Hey. Piper: That's me. Deke: Listen, I just wanted to pick your brain about something. Piper: I'm actually... Deke: How do you know if someone... likes being around you? It's for.. an app. Piper: I wouldn't really know. Deke: Like you saw Fitz and me chatting it up earlier, would you say that's a good example of... a grandfather who really enjoys his grandson's company and doesn't hate him this time. Piper: Grandfather? I guess so. Deke: Yeah, that's what I think too, so... (Looks at what's in her hand.) Wait, is that a Shrike crystal? Piper: This is just something we... Deke: Those are really dangerous. I don't know if you should be handling that.
Cut to Davis and co.
Davis: Ask Jaco the giant. He was there. Yo-Yo: He went up in flames with the ship. Davis: He did? (Daisy nods.) No, no, no. We were chasing that alien woman, umm... Daisy: Izel. Davis: Right, right. I chased her into this room, got a glimpse of her, but... (Daisy and Yo-Yo look at him.) That's all I got.
Back to Deke.
Deke: You probably don't know 'cause you were in space, but that can turn you into a zombie. I could take it back for you. Piper (gives beaker to Deke): I really wish you hadn't noticed that. (Izel transfers from Piper to Deke.) Whoa. Something is very wrong. Deke: You okay? You don't look so great. Piper: I, uh... I might be missing some lucidity at the moment. Deke: Well, you're not the only one. They say that's been going around, today. You should take care of yourself. Go rest. Piper (confused): Okay.
In the control room. Yo-Yo, Daisy and Davis run in.
Yo-Yo: Mack! May didn't shoot Sarge. Daisy: It was Izel. Mack: How is that possible?
Back to Deke/Izel. The crystal leads him to a door.
Deke: Open door. Guard: Mr. Shaw. You need something?
In control room.
Mack: What do you mean, anyone? Yo-Yo: She's taking people over, possessing them. Mack: So she wasn't on that ship. Daisy: She was in Davis, then she jumped into May, and now who knows. Davis: It would explain why people are losing time. I did.
Back to Deke.
Deke: There seems to be a malfunction with the door. It won't open. Guard: Not a malfunction. You don't have clearance here. It's top level only. It keeps out people who have a history of.. stealing SHIELD tech for profit. Sir. Deke: Top level, such as yourself? Guard: Do I look like the Director to you? Deke: You don't. I've seen a few people who do. (walks away.)
Back in control room.
Yo-Yo: Look Mack, I know it sound's crazy, but you just... Daisy: What are you doing? Mack (types something and flips a switch): I'm locking down the lighthouse. I'm locking her in.
commercial.
May comes into the control room.
May: Thanks for springing me. Mack: Don't thank me yet. We still have a body snatching alien on the loose. May: Of course we do... Davis: Lighthouse perimeter secured, all entry points locked down, floor access limited. We're snug as a bug. Daisy: We have a 20 on all our agents in River's End, and sent an encrypted messages to shelter-in-place. Yo-Yo: Working on a head count inside the Lighthouse. Mack: All right, good. Now, how do we find her? Daisy: Do we know what she wants? Davis: She shot Sarge, maybe she just wanted him? Daisy: Yeah, but she could have slipped out after, and no one's been in or out since, so what's kept her here? Fitz: Maybe we should ask who she is now. Davis: We isolate the agents. Begin interrogations one by one. May: Hmmm, no good if she's the person asking questions. Fitz: Maybe I should take a more technological approach. She could be anyone in this place.
Deke/Izel walks in.
May: She could be one of us. In this room. (Everyone looks around.) Davis: No one saying anything makes this scarier. Just pointing it out. Mack: May is right. Izel could be here right now. Watching us. Learning. Yo-Yo: We don't know the rules. How she move from person to person, how long she can stay there... Daisy: We do know one thing. When Izel was in May, it was clear she didn't know about May's life. She had to bluff. Mack: So you're saying she doesn't have access to her host's memories. Yo-Yo: Great. So everyone just needs to share a secret she wouldn't know. The more private the better. May: Oh, great. Daisy: Right, but it has to be something that one other person can confirm. Mack: Yeah. We'll clear everyone here first, then everyone else in the base. It's the best plan so far. Deke: Is it the best plan? I talk a lot. I don't have any secrets. Mack: Do you have any better ideas? Yo-Yo: Okay, I'll go first. Um... The only time I tell people I miss Pitosi is during Christmas, but that's not exactly true. Mack: It's not? May: No, it's not. She told me. Yo-Yo: There's only one day a year I miss it more. May: Your mother's birthday. Yo-Yo: That's May. May: She's good too. Mack: Okay, uh, Daisy anonymously sends part of her SHIELD salary to someone every month. Daisy: Amanda Campbell. Lincoln's sister. Mack's clear. Mack: So are you. Will you an Yo-Yo come here for a moment? (He takes them into his office, then locks them in.) Yo-Yo: Mack! (Davis reaches for his weapon.) What's this? Mack: Hear me out. These are new security measures. They're locked in. Daisy: I can still break through this glass. Mack: But Izel can't. I hope. Davis: You just locked up our two strongest assets against her. May: No, he locked up the two strongest weapons she could use against us. Imagine if she got in one of them. (To Daisy/Yo-Yo) If Izel got your powers, we're all dead. Mack: You two stay in there until we catch her. No matter what, you understand? Deke: Maybe this is a trick. Maybe she's in you. Yo-Yo: He knew what to ask Daisy. Mack (seeing Davis' weapon): Easy there hotshot. You're next. Davis: I don't have any secrets anyone here would... Daisy: Yes you do. When we were on Krylor. You took something. Davis: You knew about that? Daisy: I was running that mission. I knew everything. Also you're not smooth. At all. Davis: I stole a pen. May: A pen? Davis: A space pen. I thought it was cool. Aliens write things down. I did not know that. Daisy: He's clear. And also ridiculous. Deke: Okay, you know, I don't feel comfortable about this anymore. I think there's gotta be another way... Piper (comes into control room): Of course he doesn't want to talk. The alien woman is inside him. Deke: What? Why would you even say that. You have no idea. Piper: I blacked out today. For about an hour when I woke up, Deke was there. I put together all the pieces. Deke: Hold on. I lost time today too, in the lab. The last thing I remember before it happened was seeing Piper, so maybe she's Izel. Piper: That sounds like something Izel would say. Deke: So does that. I know I'm me. I don't know who you are. Mack: Fitz, what about you? Fitz: Well, it's perfectly clear that one of these two needs to answer. Mack: Yeah, but still. Where was Simmons undercover the first time we met? Fitz: You're asking a lot of questions. Everyone knows, the smartest thing she could do would be to go for the Director. It wouldn't happen to be you by any chance, would it? May: Fitz, where was Simmons? Mack: You don't have an answer, do you?
Izel leaves Fitz's body.
Fitz: What happened? Izel: Things don't have to be painful, they can be so easy. I just need to know who has the most power. (She phases into Piper.) Piper: You all seem like friends. So let's be smart about this. Just give me what I want. (She leaves Piper and enters Deke.) Deke: And I'll be on my way. Easy.
Mack goes to choke Deke.
Fitz: Wait, wait. Mack: Maybe if I hurt him, she'll come out. Deke: Does that sound like a good plan, my dear? (She laughs, phases into Mack.) Mack: I could kill any of you, any time I want. (Looks at Daisy, Yo-Yo.) Why don't you come out and stop me. What makes you so special? (Nothing. They're just kids from Brooklyn.)
Daisy (to Yo-Yo): Don't. Yo-Yo: They need us. Daisy: They're safer with us in here. You heard what Mack said.
Izel steps out of Mack.
Izel: Things happen fast, don't they? (Mack stops choking Deke.) Hard to keep up. Yo-Yo (to Daisy): I'm faster than she is. Daisy: And if you're not, we're all dead.
Piper pulls out a gun.
Izel: Oh, bad idea love. (She inhabits Piper's body and points the gun at May, Mack moves her out of the way. She then and shoots through Piper's left hand.) May: No Piper! Davis: No! Piper: Do you understand yet? Do you see how things could be much worse? All I need is someone with access. And then poof, I'm gone. Mack: Davis, take the shot. Davis: I can't shoot Piper, Director. Mack: You just have to wound her. I'll take care of Izel when she comes out. Piper: Don't do something you'll regret, Director. Mack: Davis, now!
Izel phases through May, then Deke, then Fitz, then into Davis.
Davis: I did warn you, it could be worse. (Davis climbs onto a railing.) Mack: Don't! Piper: What are you doing to him? Davis: So brave. So so fragile.
She lets Davis' body fall, and Davis dies from the fall. She then inhabits Mack. Mack grabs a gun, puts it to his head.
Mack: Do not follow me. I'd hate for there to be more casualties.
And leaves the control room. Well, Izel just gave herself the death sentence. She needs to die. Painfully. Slowly. And painfully.
commercial.
Sarge is having another flashback. Things are becoming clearer, but are still in silhouette. The woman in front of him literally goes up in smoke. Immediately after, a woman hugs him, then goes up in smoke. Sarge screams, "No" a couple of times, then wakes up in the lab, breathing hard.
Simmons: Well, you've come back to us. Sarge: What? Where am I? (Simmons looks over at the guard.) She shot me. Simmons: I know. May. But it wasn't May, we think someone was possessing her. Sarge: Izel. Of course. That's how she does it. That's how she always gets away. Simmons: Our people are working on it. Sarge: Your people are going to die, if they haven't already. Let me go. (He tests the cuffs) Let me go! Simmons: You're not going anywhere. (Guard approaches.)
In the control room, Daisy blows out the window, and both climb out. Davis is still dead.
May (on walkie-talkie): All agents. We need to locate Director McKenzie. Now, without engaging, he's extremely dangerous. Report Director's whereabouts to command staff, ASAP.
Fitz closes Davis' eyes. Bye Davis. Daisy stands up. She's pissed.
Daisy: We'll find him. (May hands Yo-Yo the walkie-talkie on the way out. Davis is covered with a blanket.)
May: Fitz. Why Mack? What does Izel need? Fitz: She told Simmons and me she wanted monoliths. They're gone, right? They blew up, all three. There's to trace of them anywhere. Deke: Not a physical trace. There was this light, left behind. May: You said it was a fear dimension. Fitz: Wait, what? Deke: When the monoliths exploded, it opened this "fear" dimension. I fought a Kree, and I saw my mother, which was horrible, and you got married in a forest a few floors down and that was nice. The other you. Fitz: It actually manifested living things? Flesh and blood? May: Yes. Coulson went in, sealed it up. Fitz: Maybe it wasn't a dimension.
Quick cut to Sarge, then back to Fitz.
Fitz: Izel said the monoliths had the power to create. That we know one monolith was space, another was time, what if the third one was creation. May: That's where our fears came from. Fitz: Yeah, think about it. The physical stones blew apart, that doesn't... Deke: Doesn't mean the energy went away, It could... The light could just be uncontained monolith energy. Fitz: Exactly. Exactly. We're looking for a link, that could be it. May: Okay, so what you're saying that when Coulson went in there with it... Fitz: It's possible that the three energies combined to create another Coulson, through space and time, on some other planet, years ago. And he was left there, when our Coulson, sealed the gravitonium device. (How did Fitz know about the gravitonium device?)
Cut to Sarge slipping out of his restraining device.
May (over scene): If that's true, he doesn't know it. Deke: Just sayin' the other you thought it was a fear dimension. Fitz: Yeah, well, he wasn't the smart one. (BWAhahahahaha... Don't know how May kept a straight face...)
Cut to corridor. Mack (gun in hand) is walking toward the room Deke/Izel was by. Mack points the gun toward the guard.
Guard: Sir, I... Mack: I need your cuffs.
Cut to Sarge, who has removed one restraining device. Both Simmons and the guard aren't paying attention. What use is a guard, if he's not paying attention?
Mack walks into the room, walks to another door.
Mack: Here we go.
His retina is scanned, and is admitted entrance. He throws the gun away, handcuffs himself to some pipes, then hits his head on the wall a couple of times, hard enough to knock himself out. Izel then separates from Mack. She enters the room, and the gravitonium device is hovering in the air.
Cut to control room.
Deke: So your gravitonium device contains the energy of three monoliths. May: And if Izel gets that power for herself... Fitz: Yeah. Not good.
Daisy and Yo-Yo are running down a corridor. May (over walkie-talkie): Daisy, Yo-Yo. We know where Mack went. (Well, Daisy and Yo-Yo are already on their way, aren't they?)
Back to Izel, Sarge walks in the room, and closes the door. Izel has her back to him.
Izel: They're not here. But I can feel their presence. Just as I can feel you. (She turns around.) And you could feel me. You knew just where to find me, didn't you? I wondered how long it would take...
Sarge has a gun. Fires it at Izel.
Izel: Bullets can't harm me any more than they can harm you. Sarge: Doesn't matter how. I'll kill you. Izel: Oh sweetheart. Don't you understand? You're not here to kill me. You're here to join me.
commercial.
Sarge (holding a pistol): You're wrong. Izel: I know it's a lot to take in, but you and I (Sarge shoots three round in Izel... and...) You and I are intertwined. Like two notes in harmony. I promise you, if you know is true inside. (Sarge shoots her point blank in her chest.) I know you're trying to hurt me. If it makes you feel any better, you are. Perhaps not the way you intend, but it still hurts. Even so, it won't end me. And you don't even want that. Sarge: Of course I do. (Still pulling trigger to empty gun.) The same way you want to kill me. Izel: Kill you? Oh my poor dear, if I wanted to kill you, you'd be dead. I was trying to wake you up. Sarge: Oh, I'm awake. I'm awake enough to remember the people I love. The family I had, and how it felt when you took them from me. Izel: It's not true. Sarge: Are you saying you didn't kill them? Izel: I'm saying you didn't have a family. Those memories, they aren't yours. Sarge: That makes no sense! Izel: Then how did I kill them? You can't recall because it didn't happen. The family isn't yours. It's a holdover, an echo from the man who's body you inhabit. Sarge: No, no...
Sarge goes into another flashback. The shadow, turns into May. Da-Da!
Sarge: I don't understand.
Another flashback. The second shadow turns in to Daisy.
Izel: I'm only beginning to fully understand myself. I always wondered how you got this form. And where it came from. (Sarge having flashbacks of the scar on Coulson's chest from Loki's scepter.) But now in this place, they recognize that face here. Don't you see? The monoliths created the body and sent it back through time and space back home, to our realm. Sarge (really confused): Our realm. Izel: A planet where we have no form and yearn for it. This human body arrived. It had form. (Sarge having flashbacks of Coulson.) You took it over, and lost yourself... lost me. And in return, you got everything that comes with this unwilling vessel. Sarge: The memories aren't mine. (More flashbacks.) Izel: No, they're not. (Cut to Daisy and Yo-Yo still running down a corridor.) Sarge: If they weren't my family, if they didn't die, then why did I blame you? Izel: This host silenced most of who you are. But you still remember my name like it's a song in your head. You remember your name too. Sarge: Pachakutiq. Izel: Even though our kind has no sound to hear it whispered. Sarge: No, no. I'm hunting you. Izel: You're not hunting for me, you're longing for me. This shell has confused you. I'm one of the rare few who took my own form and left our realm. You inspired me to do it. And your only chance to follow was to take this human husk. Sarge: You want to get in my head, but I know what I know. I would never follow you. Izel: You did, and it's perfect. We found the Di'Allas. Our wish is about to come true.
Outside the room, Yo-Yo and Daisy find Mack.
Yo-Yo: Mack! Daisy: Mack, get up. Mack: What are you doing here? Daisy: We're kind of saving you actually, so... Mack: I gave you two a direct order. Yo-Yo: We couldn't let her take you. She could do anything. Mack: Exactly.
Inside the room.
Sarge: Our wish? Izel: To give this gift to the rest of our kind. Open the door, bring them forth, give them form. Sarge: The Shrike. Izel: Created billions of willing hosts, waiting throughout this galaxy. Just as you imagined. So please. Shake off your chains of this vulgar species and wake up! Sarge (after a pause): No. I'm going to stop you. I will stop you. I'm going to stop you. I will stop you! (Izel grabs the gravitonium device.) Izel: The only thing powerful enough to defeat me is inside you. And you're afraid to let it out. For now, anyway.
Izel opens the door, outside is Daisy, Yo-Yo and Mack.
Izel: Hello, friends.
She's about to inhabit Daisy, when Yo-Yo gets in the way.
Yo-Yo: This is why you wanted her hidden away. Mack: If you hurt her.... Yo-Yo: Hurt her? She's the perfect way for me to escape this place. Who would be foolish enough to stop me, when I could slice your throats before you even know what's happened? Daisy: You really think we'll just let you walk off this base? Yo-Yo: Of course not. You'll let me fly. Mack: You can have our plane, but I'm coming with you. Daisy: What? Yo-Yo: Yes. More human conceits of love and ownership. Fine. Your plane has the room. Come along. Daisy: Mack, no! (Mack shakes his head.)
Scene cut to zipping up Davis' body bag, pan up to Piper and May. Simmons is waking up off the floor of the lab, turns around to find Sarge gone. Sarge is being helped up by two people. Mack and Yo-Yo/Izel walks down the corridor, passes by some guards, with Daisy in the background. Mack and Yo-Yo enter the Zephyr, Daisy is there, joined by May. May nods to Mack, who returns the gesture.
Daisy: He's making a mistake. May: No, he's doing the right thing. Daisy: He's surrendering himself. May: He's trusting his team.
And the Zephyr flies away.
commercial.
Epilogue.
Deke is watching the video footage of Sarge and Izel.
Izel: This human body arrived. It had form. You took it over, and lost yourself... lost me.
Deke: An entire realm of non-corporeal beings. I thought we'd heard of everything, but... Nope. Fitz: We have heard of an entity like this before, actually. Ghostrider. Deke: What, named that because he's a ghost that rides... in someone's body? Fitz: Yeah, I guess. Deke: That's pretty literal. Fitz: It's pretty deadly. Which is why we have to keep an eye on him. If he's something like that, our holding cell will not be enough.
Cut to a pacing Sarge on Fitz's display device. Cut to Sarge.
Sarge: It's not true. It's not me. (As he swings his hand, it pixelates.) I know who I am. And I know it's not me.
End program.

AoS6_10 -- Leap. Thoughts, etc. Where do I start? Farewell, Agent (Never Had A First Name) Davis. His murder at the hands of Izel puts the BRJ death sentence on her; to die a painful, slow and painful death. There was no reason for Izel to red shirt Davis, other than the writers to make sure Izel is one hated, despicable character. (Now, I'm never one to get political (cough, cough), but haven't all of the agent deaths this season been white males? Fox, Keller, Davis and an assortment of guards who anonymously die guarding people like Pax. I'm calling you out, show runners...) I was probably more pissed that Davis died than Coulson, since I always assumed they'd find a way to bring Phil back. Not that either should die, but between Piper and Davis, they had to kill the guy with a kid. Piper on the other hand, though she did redeem herself, did betray the team to Hale... As predicted, Izel can possess others. And it turns out she's a "god" the same way Thor is, a more advanced being with powers, but not supernatural. I suppose in that respect, Quake could become a god. She's getting damned good with her powers. Sarge, also as predicted, is a duplicate, not a clone, who may be more Coulson than Pachakutiq. I also wonder if Pachakutiq is really trying to stop Izel, and she's being manipulative, attempting to get him on her side, more than they were... lovers(?) in the "other" realm. What would Team Mad Max think of this reveal? Where's Snowflake? Thank you to the writers (well, not for killing Davis,) for attempting to correct that really dumb Fear Dimension thing. Assuming of course, that the plot doesn't jump the shark and become as dumb as the Fear Dimension. Well, I still have faith in the writers in that regard... There were several really nice scenes. The first was Piper, Yo-Yo and Daisy discussing May, from justifying why she'd try to kill Sarge, which nicely morphs into why she couldn't be the one who shot Sarge. Fitz and Deke. I'm pretty sure I appreciate the relationship between Fitz Prime and Deke more than that of Future Fitz and Deke. The new relationship sees them more as equals, though it did bother me that there was more FitzDeke than FitzSimmons this show. I hope that's not a trend. (Was Henstridge sick or something? It did seem her scenes were shot separately from the rest of the show...) Sarge's flashbacks, which eventually reveal his "family", is SHIELD. I'm still hopeful Sarge is a "good" guy (i.e. Pachakutiq is out to stop Izel, not join her), though the way back for Coulson is being firmly paved. It could still go either way, but I think we're going to get Agent Phillip J. Coulson back... I gots some questions. Davis was possessed by Izel from the time he was on the spaceship until after the party. How did he know there were "Festivities" the night before? Fitz: It's possible that the three energies combined to create another Coulson, through space and time, on some other planet, years ago. And he was left there, when our Coulson, sealed the gravitonium device. How did Fitz know it was a gravitonium device? It wasn't mentioned before, and he knew nothing of the "Fear Dimension". Did they cut the scene where that was explained? Daisy and Yo-Yo are running down a corridor, when they get a call from May saying they know where Mack went. It really looked like they were already on their way. Now, I know they can ADR anything over the radio, I wonder what the original line was... Notible quotes. Davis: Oh, yeah. After I blacked out, she (May) was the first thing I saw when I came to, so I was in bad shape. She was cool about it, sweet really. Yo-Yo: Melinda May was... Sweet? (To Daisy.) Is there a different meaning to that word? Yo-Yo: Okay, I'll go first. Um... The only time I tell people I miss Pitosi is during Christmas, but that's not exactly true. (Pitosi is the city in South America Yo-Yo came from. That's digging up some old biographical info...) Deke: Just sayin' the other you thought it was a fear dimension. Fitz: Yeah, well, he wasn't the smart one. (I lol'd at that...) Daisy: He's surrendering himself. May: He's trusting his team. (Daisy may have matured a lot, but May is still more the pro...) Fitz: We have heard of an entity like this before, actually. Ghostrider. (I wonder if the team can call up Robbie?) Two more hours. (Three eps.) Not much time to re-involve the Chronicoms and bring closure to the current plot...

I see that today's live watch touched on this, but why is everybody carrying firearms everywhere? Have they not heard of an item called an "ICEr?" If Piper were carrying an ICEr instead of a firearm, she would not have a (now healed?) hole in her hand. In fact, Izel would not recognize an ICEr if she saw one. Depending on how her possession powers work, Izel may have simply knocked herself unconscious. Furthermore, Davis would not have hesitated to ICE Izel in Piper's body.
On a related note: I would advise Mack that, if he ever wants someone merely to wound rather than kill, he should say so when he give the order to shoot and not wait until the recipient of the order hesitates. In any case, in the real world, it is not realistic for a shot not to be potentially fatal. Even a shot aimed at the meat of the thigh could penetrate the femoral artery and cause Piper to bleed to death.
The real Fitz should be able to answer where Simmons was working undercover when Fitz met Mack. However, given Fitz's brain damage, Fitz's memories of the time when he met Mack are likely to be quite unreliable. That being said, an answer of, "I was recovering from severe brain damage at the time and was hallucinating, so none of my memories of that time can be trusted," would be information that Izel would not know. As far as I know, Daisy was the only person present who knows that Fitz was hallucinating, and he told her in a deleted scene, which may or may not count.
The team was quite lucky that Izel was visible when she passed between bodies. If she were not, she easily could have waited until someone passed the test and moved to that body.
The fifth-season version of Fitz believed in a "fear dimension" and was stubbornly resistant to the idea of multiple timelines despite a large amount of evidence in favor of multiple timelines. I agree with the sixth-season version of Fitz that the fifth-season version "wasn't the smart one." Of course, the fifth-season versions of several characters, especially Simmons, were not the smart ones.
Regarding my predictions for next week... I will not be doing that anymore. In last week's thread, I felt like a blowhard spouting off on things that everyone else knew more about than I did. I do not want to single anyone out as multiple people introduced spoilers for episode 6.10 in the episode 6.09 thread. Furthermore, I blame ABC for giving the answers to what would happen this week and not the rest of you for knowing the answers. All anyone else could do with my comments were to (1) ignore them, (2) point out how the spoilers prove me wrong, or (3) humor me and pretend that my speculations were still possible. We are not a large enough community to have separate conversations, one with just people who avoid spoilers and one with just people who do not mind spoilers.
I stopped reading last week's thread due to the spoilers, so, for all I know, I missed a discussion on the use of spoilers. I will probably go back and read the posts later this week.
As I am performing the final edit on this post, this site is showing me an advertisement for "Hot Gotham Nights." OK...

I'm calling you out, show runners...) Unless there is an issue with the actor that I do not know about, you nailed the exact reason why the writers had Izel kill Davis. I do not think that there has been a female agent death this season, but, other than Diaz and Piper, has there been a female agent this season other than a regular character immune to dying? I think that there has been an African-American redshirt or two. I know that there was one guarding Pax and Jaco in "Collision Course (Part I)," but when I tried to look up his fate on my DVR, I just found earthquake coverage. Fitz also tried to betray the team to Hale. Piper was simply more successful than Fitz. On the other hand, a Fitz did die as well. I am running the risk of humiliating myself again, but I wonder if Izel revealed too much. She gave Sarge enough information for him to figure out that May, Daisy, et al. are the family that he believes was taken away from him. As long as Sarge opposed Izel, I do not see Jaco or Pax minding much if they knew. I assume that Snowflake is still in her cell receiving regular visits from Deke. I suspect that we will see how she reacts, if she gets over the whole leaving her behind to die thing. I agree with you about the fear dimension. I had earlier suggested the idea that a better idea would have been creatures that manifested themselves as the characters' fears: It is plausible that there may be alternate dimensions. I will even go so far as to say that it is plausible that blowing up melty rocks will open a portal to one of these dimensions. However, any alternate dimension will be a varied as ours. Having a "fear dimension" is about as implausible as a dimension with nothing but shrimp. The show could easily have come up with something more plausible. For example, the portal could have opened in an atmosphere with hallucinogenic gas that causes people to see their fears. The problem is that the writers seemed to want the characters to be in real peril. If this is the case, the dimension could have creatures that resemble boggarts from the Harry Potter books. Having something that was simply a fear dimension feels like lazy writing. (emphasis added) In the thread for "Inescapable," I floated the idea that Fitz is a fan of this site and is inspired by what he reads here. In this case, I am going to assume that he came up with the idea on his own as I doubt that anyone read that thread. Is Fitz Prime the one we are seeing this season and Future Fitz the one that we saw for most of the fifth season? There was a period during the fourth season when I was wondering about Henstridge as well. She had a brief scene with De Caestecker at the beginning of the fifth episode and another at the end of the seventh episode. In between, she had no interaction with any of the regular actors. Across the fourth and fifth seasons, if felt like the times when she was not shifted to the periphery were the exceptions. It is possible that he woke up hungover with significant holes in his memory from the previous night and assumed. Izel (in May) may also have said something about festivities when she was being "sweet." Fitz and Simmons knew that Izel was seeking monoliths, and Simmons mentioned that there were three that were destroyed. Maybe she gave him more details off screen.
