Is anyone here watching this? I just started with the show, and so far I really like it. Interesting characters, good acting and a gorgeous scenery! Going just by the pilot, Zach McGowan's (The Superior) Captain Vane is actually my favourite character, even though he's kind of an a-hole. No surprise there. There's also another familiar name on the show: Agents of Shield's very own Bear McCreary did the series music. Just check out this magnificent intro: Two trailers for Season 1: EDIT: On episode III now and this show is already breaking my heart. Why can't we just have nice things?!

Brief update as I'm going into season 3 of what is clearly one of the most incredible shows I have ever seen in my life - and trust me, I've seen a lot! The pace of this show is bloody insane! The seasons are pretty short, with only eight episodes in the first and ten in the following ones, so there's obviously no room for filler of any kind. Allegiances between the characters turn faster than the wind or the tides, but never without proper motivation, so nothing feels forced or out of character. I can only repeat my earlier praise of the character Charles Vane, who's sort of the show's - or rather the main character's - antagonist at times. The relationship between him and Captain Flint, the show's lead, actually reminds me of Sawyer and Jack of Lost at times. They would make a great team, even good friends, if they weren't so busy being sworn rivals instead. All in all I can only implore anyone who has even the slightest taste for a good pirate story to give this show a chance; you won't regret it! That, and I can only hope that the writers of AoS are going to give Zach McGowan's "Superior" a better story line in this upcoming arc, because, after watching him steal basically every scene he's in on Black Sails, it is a shame that his character on AoS has had so little chance to impress yet.

And to you, miss ayanami I watched the pilot of Black Sails, due to your recommendation. I found it to be fine, looks interesting. Was a bit surprised at the nudity, I didn't realize it was a cable show rather than a network production. Not complaining, hee hee! That being said, the one thing that kept distracting me was the inconsistency of cinematography- the scenes seem to jump back and forth between studio/location/historical footage. ayanami yeah, ok, I couldn't really find the right words to describe what I meant, so that is what I chose. The texture just seems to change so much, from scene to scene, that it kept me distracted from the story. I had a hard time 'getting lost' in it, and being immersed in the story. So I took another look at the pilot and I think I get what you're saying now. They've really crammed a lot into that first episode, with all those characters, tons of different locations, and the day-night-day cycle probably didn't help things, either. Scenes playing at night only being lit by candlelight, that certainly influences the cinematography quite a bit.

Been going through vordeel's video repertoire and noticed a few Black Sails vids. Damn, I really need to squeeze in a re-watch of this show at some point!
