According to the Wikipedia article on Robbie Reyes, in the comics, he was a high school student with a a developmentally disabled brother rather than a dropout with a paralyzed brother. In the comics, Eli Morrow is the demon possessing him instead of being a disgruntled PhD. In the comics, Reyes had the ability to teleport to wherever his car was, and his car's trunk was a portal that could teleport anything anywhere. If he had these powers in the show, we did not see them. I suppose that if Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. can be this loose with what the comics established with the character, the new show can be as loose with what Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. established with the character. The weird part is that casting the same actor in what appears to be a reboot. This is almost as if Disney cast Andrew Garfield (or Tobey Maguire) to star in Spider-Man: Homecoming. If this is to be a full reboot, a new actor would have made sense. Regarding politics, there are two boards where I sometimes lurk and sometimes post (with nearly 200 posts on each). The other one used to be almost as friendly as this board is now but turned nasty about three to four years ago when politcal discussions became more common. It only recently started returning to a more friendly atmosphere when the person with the second highest post total was suspended for a few months for trolling. I would prefer that things not get that ugly here. This board is totally amazing, I have never seen one single ugly thing here. It is almost unheard of on any internet forum. Yes, there are disagreements about stuff, and it has ALL been handled in the most professional manner by everyone involved. That is what I like the very most about this place.
So cheers to everyone of you, I really appreciate the camaraderie...and oh yeah, 5 days left til season 6!

The MCU in general has always been pretty loose with what had been established about characters in the comics. There's never been any indication of a big romance between Bobbi Morse and Clint Bartonin the MCU, Hela in the comics wasn't Odin's daughter and Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch are actually mutants. Just to name a few changes off the top of my head. Unless I'm missing something really obvious, though, I cannot remember any reboots of characters or storylines within the MCU so far. If the new GR show openly contradicts AoS, I think that would be a first.

I could be totally wrong about this, yet the take-away I am getting is that Reyes will be the same character from AoS, yet the show will depict him in his own world, and life, and not have tie-ins to AoS.
