I just came back from watching Avengers - Endgame and let me just say: I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
Yeah, sure, there are some "science" issues that left me a bit confused in the end and I would like for Agent Fitz to explain to me how that all worked out, but that's the topic for another thread.
Aside from those details that will surely be addressed again in the MCU, the movie was a thrilling adventure and just an epic nerd-galore filled with old faces we haven't seen in a while, easter-eggs for the entire MCU and even shout-outs to what's been going on in the Marvel comics recently. If you're not an MCU fan, I don't know why you would even bother with this movie (like the guy next to me who wondered why Clint was wearing an ancle bracelet in his first scene), but if you are, there's barely a scene which doesn't in some way refer to the past adventures in this universe.
The tone of the movie is the usual Marvel blend of humour and drama, probably leaning a bit more to the latter in the first part of the movie before the action really takes off. In that regard, they really do justice to the unimaginable loss of life everyone has to come to terms with. When the movie finally does become more lighthearted it doesn't feel forced, over-done or out of place. Thankfully. (*cough* AoU *cough* GotG 2 *cough*)
So, the tone is fitting, the action incredible as always, the tension is high and this time, the stakes are real! No second chances, no do-overs.
10/10
And one last remark out of context:
Cap is a lier! And there is one action sequence during the final battle that had my fangirl mouth hang open for like ten seconds. You'll know it when you see it!
Oh, and one final final remark: This movie actually marks the very first time that a character from one of the TV shows appeared in an MCU movie!!! It was an obvious choice, but still!
