Nah, I put my money on him being Coulson, just with some brainwashing or reality alteration or whatever. I mean, this show turned Skye into a Hive cheerleader, Fitz into the Doctor and Talbot into the Big Bad. I bet they could have found a way to turn Coulson evil.
Plus, it's not like he couldn't already be pretty ruthless before...

And, last but not least, let's not forget that the comics managed to pull off this:
