There seems to be a watchdog-ish Hate Group in Supergirl on the rise called "Children of Liberty." Basically lead by Agent Liberty and is being aided by Mercy Graves and her brother Otis Graves both of whom use to work for Luthor-Corp and Cadmus. They are much like the Watchdogs, though instead of hating Inhumans, they hate aliens.

Honestly, I'm this close to giving up on Supergirl. I've just had it with all that socio-political BS being shoved into my shows! That's one of the reasons why I don't watch Doctor Who anymore. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with social issues having a subtle impact on the plot - I've grown up with Star Trek, after all - but I don't appreciate getting hit over the head with the metaphors at every turn. Plus, the current villains seem like a direct rip-off of Amon and the Equalizers from the first season of Legend of Korra. Currently I'm just watching for Alex, Brainy and because I really like Sam Witwer and want to see what they do with his character (Agent Liberty). Supergirl is without a doubt the weakest of the Arrowverse shows, though.

I haven't watched Supergirl, but before AoS had the Watchdogs the Highlander television series had The Watchers. In that series, The Watchers were a benign group whose only goal was to observe and record the actions of the imortals. However, a sect broke off that saw the immortals as a threat and started killing them off (for anyone not familiar with Highlander, an immortal will die if beheaded in that reality).

That rogue element of The Watchers were The Hunters led by John Horton after Horton was a watcher to Highlander original film's antagonist, The Kurgan.

Following uo here, I actually really enjoyed episode 4x03, that showed the origins of Agent Liberty. I had a feeling that Sam Witwer might make it worth it to stick around for the new season, and he 100% delivered in this episode! I thought that he portrayed the development of his character from a somewhat liberal(?) college professor to the leader of an anti-alien hategroup very convincingly, while keeping him relatable the whole way through. Also props to the writers for delivering a very tight script and showing us a perspective that has pretty much been neglected entirely on this show so far. I still feel like I have seen this plot a dozen times over, but I suppose if it's at least well handled, I can live with that.
