Finally finished Daredevil S3 a few moments ago (the fastest I've ever binged any of the Netflix shows!) and I couldn't wait to give at least a spoiler-free review at this point. To sum it up:
This. Was. Perfect!
Honestly, this might have just been the best season of any show I've seen in my life, and I've seen a lot. Sure, if you prefer Matt fighting ninjas, or hordes of Russian mobsters, you probably end up preferring S1, but what S3 might lack in flashy villains, it more than makes up for in rock solid character work.
Matt's near-death experience at the end of The Defenders isn't just used as a gimmick to create some drama and make people think he's gone, but is instead fully utilised to develop his character. It's nice to see that even someone whose basic character trait is basically that he always gets up again, doesn't just walk something like this off as if it was nothing.
Foggy and Karen are also fully back on track again, after being forced to the sidelines in The Defenders or acting as glorified cameos on the other Netflix shows.
Fisk is incredible as always and there were several times where his seemingly all-encompassing reach had me utterly terryfied on behalf of the other characters.
As to the new characters: AgentsHot and Hotter Nadeem and Pointdexter are a treat, with their individual story arcs taking both expected and unexpected turns along the way. Both the writers and the actors deliver their absolute A-game here, making me invested in these characters from their very first episodes. As I went into the season without even having seen a single trailer, I had no clue what to expect here, and it was just amazing watching the plot unfold, and the characters' roles in it.
I also particularly enjoyed Sister Maggie, who feels like a fresh breeze in the show and gives Matt someone to play off of in the most genuine way.
Also, despite me saying earlier that this season doesn't have as flashy villains as the other had, it still has a ton of incredible fightscenes, including an adversary that proves he can more than hold his own against Matt! Plus, a onetake scene that clocks in at over ten minutes!
So all in all, this season had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish and I give it a perfect score without hesitation. 10/10!
