I'm on episode 3 right now and I'm loving the new season so far! Great character work on both the old and the new people. So, you really got something great to look forward to! Also, yeah, flu season! Shouldn't be taken lightly!

Finished season 3 last night. A great entry in the Netflix and Daredevil collection for sure. A good balance between new characters/stories and tying back to earlier stories as well.

Did anyone catch the name of the doctor? I know he's credited as Dr. O but I watched the scene a few times and it doesn't sound like Octavius or anything similar. But could that scene have hinted at something along those lines? i.e. Doc Ock as the mad scientist type trying to develop super soldiers of some kind?

Seems like they're still building in characters for future story lines.

The subtitles say "Dr. Oyama" and that's what I heard, too. Fun fact about that scene: Here the doctors are reinforcing Dex's spine with cogmium steel while in the comics his bones are made indescructible with adamantium. Well, I guess they had to make that change for obvious reasons.

Are those reasons still obvious though? Given the big purchase?
But yeah, I think there's a path here they might take that follows a few of the comic arcs.

Honestly, I think it's more about name recognition at this point than about the actual rights. It's hard enough for the more casual viewers to distinguish what belongs to which comic universe, but you're gonna confuse even more serious fans when you suddenly drop a term like adamantium in the MCU without Wolverine anywhere in sight. Should the X-Men universe and the MCU actually be combined someday (which I hope they won't!), then that's all fair game, but until then I'm more than happy with Marvel skipping certain terms like adamantium or the m-word for example.

Fair point and I tend to agree that there's no rush to bring the X-Men and related characters into the MCU. Fantastic Four and related characters are a different story of course. Though a post-credits scene with Deadpool where he says something like "oh wait, is this the right franchise?" would be hilarious.

Further to this, Dr Oyama is from the comics and not some sort of stand-in for Doc Ock. He's the guy (well, until they confirm a first name he may just be related to Kenji Oyama) who developed the process that gave Wolverine his adamantium.
Sort of surprised I didn't know that.
