A lot of the publicity surrounding the film, Crazy Rich Asians, notes that it is the first major Hollywood film in a quarter century to have a predominantly Asian-American cast. The last major Hollywood film to have a predominantly Asian-American cast was The Joy Luck Club, which was an ensemble film. It was made so long ago that the closest it had to a lead actress (pictured below) was still in her 20s: In case she does not look familiar, here is a photo of her in a more recent role:

Ming Na is even hotter now than she was in her 20's! And she was a looker back then, too!

Tomlyn is second from the left with Ming-Na immediately to the right of her.

When I did a Google Image search for "Ming Na Wen Joy Luck Club" (without quotes), the video below was the first hit: In the video, the character talks about how, four months after her mother (Suyuan) died, she was asked to take Suyuan's place at the mahjong games with the other three mothers in the film. According to the Wikipedia page on The Joy Luck Club, it was Ming-Na Wen's character who took over for her mother four months after her mother's death. The name of the file that I linked is "ming-na-wen.jpg," and, in images search results on Bing, clicking on the face brings up Ming-Na Wen's biography.

In case there is still any doubt, yesterday's Los Angeles Times printed the cast photo for The Joy Luck Club and identified the eight actresses. Among the four actresses who play daughters in the film, Ming-Na Wen is the farthest to the left (second overall). Tamlyn Tomita is second from the left among actresses who play daughters, third overall. This confusion does raise a point. Ming-Na Wen may look much younger than her current age, but this does not necessarily mean that she looks like she did when she was younger.
