I found my DC movie.
There's a definite Chuck vibe!

"Say my name so my powers may flow through you!" "Captain Marvel." Anyway, looks awesome! Great casting for the kid as the younger version of Zach Levi and of course Zach Levi!! *fangirls* And I just want to say it now: If that movie makes more money than the recent Batman/Superman/Justice League stuff DC has put out, I will be laughing my ass off!

Pretty good flick. Lots of funny moments and smart nods to pop culture and the comics in general. Not in the class of Deadpool of course (though probably not trying to be) but a good entry from the Distinguished Competition.

Oh, this was so much fun!! This movie really holds everything the trailer promises and more. It certainly wasn't going for the "epic" angel like much of the DC universe or the MCU does, but I have to say, I think I enjoyed it more than Captain Marvel. I agree on the pop culture references. I think my favourite one was the nod to "Big". Oh, and they totally stole this joke from Kung Fu Panda: (MAJOR SPOILER for a really funny gag during the movie's showdown!!!)
Blatant theft aside , the movie's finale was really really good and something I hadn't seen coming, making it all the more enjoyable. Plus, they certainly had one of the best villains of any DC movie so far (not that that's saying much, but still...). SO, if you're in the mood for some light-and-adorable instead of dark-and-gritty superhero fare, go watch SHAZAM!! (P.S. I don't think I can say that word normally anymore! )

People outside my theatre after the show were shouting Shazam! and looking up to see if somehow they'd change into a super hero.

I only saw the first Panda, so didn't know they did that, but I also watched a couple of reviews and read the comments on the trailers that contained that exchange and not a single person mentioned Panda 2. I was hoping for a nice big Chuck reference, but the closest they came was having things described as Awesome a few times. At the very least they could have used 'Captain Awesome' for one of his temporary names.
Does anyone say 'SHAZAM' normally? I mean, apart from:

Did I catch "Captain Marvel" as one of the blink-and-you-miss-it names on the list? In my own mind I thought I saw it and even say "Girl's name?" beside it.
